Intro to Position

As an IT Coordinator, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of NPR’s IT assets, from purchasing and tracking to eventual decommissioning. A significant portion of this role will be dedicated to procurement, vendor communication, and maintaining accurate asset tracking. You will also contribute to long-term technology purchase planning and budgeting.

The successful candidate should be proficient with spreadsheets and possess a good understanding of current mobile phone and computer hardware specifications. The role requires strong coordination skills, especially when working with technical team members across different locations.

Prior experience in a deadline-driven environment, familiarity with ITSM tools, and an interest in public media are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review and process IT service requests for hardware, software, peripherals, and mobile devices and plans

• Assist staff with their orders and apply IT standards and policies to equipment assignments and purchases

• Partner with vendors to obtain quotes, track purchases and address product availability issues as required

• Receive, verify, track, and distribute mobile devices, hardware, and software

• Organize and maintain licensing keys, agreements, and other related documentation

• Develop and maintain hardware and software licensing database including CMDB

• Perform periodic inventory audits to ensure accuracy and document deltas

• Provide management with regular reports to demonstrate inventory accuracy and software compliance

• Document and maintain SOPs for assigned areas, including but not limited to inventory, purchasing, licensing, budgeting, etc.

• Lead in the planning of regular technology purchases

• Prepare meeting materials, presentation materials, and management reports for the IT team

• Assist management team with IT Operations budget updates and monthly forecast

• Assist technical teams in addressing and resolving tickets

• Assist in Projects as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications with a focus on IT support or the ITIL framework are desired

Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Work Location & Requirements

• On-site: This is an on-site role based in Washington, D.C.

Required Skills/Competencies

• 1 year of administrative support experience, preferably including procurement and asset management

• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel

• Problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills

• Must be detail oriented and have solid organizational skills

• Ability to prioritize, adjust, and push for completion of multiple tasks

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Must be able to work cooperatively with others as part of a team, hold own work to high standards, and inspire others to do the same

• Ability to lift IT equipment of at least 50 lbs

Preferred Skills/Competencies

• Experience managing assets through asset databases

• Knowledge of current mobile phones and tablets specifications and plans

• Knowledge of current Apple and PC laptop and desktop hardware specifications

• Experience supporting mobile phones, their plans and first level computer support

• Experience maintaining working relationships and negotiating with outside vendors

Job Type

• This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: The U.S. based anticipated hourly rate for this opportunity is $28.85 - $31.73 per hour. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum hourly rate NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

NPR Benefits: NPR offers access to comprehensive benefits for employees and dependents. Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
