About IFAE

The Institut de Física d’Altes Energies (IFAE) is a public consortium of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Autonomous Government of Catalonia, and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, a public university) whose main objective is to carry out research and to contribute to the development of high energy physics from a theoretical, experimental and technological point of view. IFAE has the status of a “University Institute" attached to the UAB and its premises are within the campus of the University. The IFAE announces the opening of a position for the LST Project to be located at La Palma

Role

We are seeking a proactive software technician with IT skills to support the Large-Sized Telescope (LST) project in La Palma. This role is instrumental for the commissioning of the LST telescopes. You will be the key person for IT and control and monitoring software maintenance on site.

Software Maintenance
Onsite maintenance of control and monitoring software
Development of support on-site software
Interaction with software experts from LST collaboration
IT Maintenance
Onsite maintenance of the IT services
Network configuration Maintenance.
Website Maintenance
Keep website updates
Ensure reachability of the Website.
Who We’re Looking For
Based in La Palma (or willing to relocate)
Proficient in Spanish and English
Knowledge of OPCUA, django framework and python in general, html, java
The person requires knowledge of Linux OS, and CISCO switches
Valid driver’s licence.
Evaluation process:

The process of evaluation and selection guarantees the principles of competition, publicity and transparency. The recruitment of fellows consists in an open selection and the evaluation of candidates will be carried out according to the criteria of the call:

Academic and / or scientific-technical trajectory of the candidate (up to 50 points):
1.1 Scientific-technical contributions (up to 30 points): The academic record and other curricular merits of the candidate.
1.2 Mobility and internationalization (up to 20 points): The relevance and impact on the candidate’s career stays in national and international centers and / or in the industrial sector.
Adequacy of the candidate to the activities to be carried out (up to 50 points).
What we offer:

The successful candidate will have:

Permanent Contract ACT
Full time contract (40 hours/week).
IFAE Professional category: Technician for Research Support
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications within the corresponding category range
The selected candidate is expected to join IFAE and the LST team at La Palma as soon as possible.
