Exam Period:
May 1, 2026 - August 31, 2026

Position Summary:

• Responsible for setting up the examination room according to specific requirements as well as ensuring that equipment and facilities are functioning properly. 

• Ensures the fair and proper conduct of in-person examinations, ensuring exam security and integrity are always maintained. 

• Responsible for the preparation of student entry, student invigilation, distribution and collection of exams and examination materials. 

• Prior to the start of examinations informs students of their exam accommodations and assists them by directing them to their seats. 

• Ensures that all mobile, web-accessible electronic devices and other non-permitted items are stowed away in designated area prior to the start of the examination. 

• Collects student attendance signatures prior to the start of the exam. 

• Reports student issues to the Exam Coordinator in a timely manner. Ensures that students comply with all exam regulations. 

• Invigilates during examinations, dealing with queries raised by students. 

• Monitors, documents, addresses and reports any issues related to exam accommodations. 

• Monitors, documents, addresses and reports incidents and/or misconduct. 

• Escorts students from exam rooms during the examination as required (e.g., washrooms). 

• Ensures the examination room is clean and tidy for the next session; resets the exam room as needed. 

• Adheres to McGill University policies and procedures. 

Qualifications:

• Have experience working in a university or school setting.

• Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 (Fluent) on a scale of 0-4. ​

• Accuracy and attention to detail. ​

• Ability to keep calm under pressure.  

• Must be comfortable with computer technology. Knowledge of adaptive software is an asset. 

• Must be able to work as part of a team and individually. 

• Be punctual for the shift(s). 

• Be present at all assigned shift(s). 

• Current undergraduate students are not eligible for this position. 

• Hold a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN).

• NOTE: Having a valid Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN) is a condition of employment. If you are an international student, you must hold a valid immigration document allowing you to be employed by McGill University.​
