Position Summary
The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supporting the accuracy, control, and movement of inventory within the Fuelex Energy warehouse and distribution operations. This role combines inventory control responsibilities with hands-on warehouse operations and administrative support.
The position reports directly to the Operations Manager and works closely with both the Inventory Control Manager and Warehouse Supervisor to ensure inventory accuracy, efficient receiving processes, and smooth day-to-day warehouse operations. The role also serves as vacation and absence backup for the Inventory Control Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control
Perform routine cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain accurate inventory records.
Investigate and assist with resolving inventory discrepancies and variances.
Support the Inventory Control Manager in maintaining inventory accuracy across all warehouse locations.
Assist with periodic full inventory counts as required.
Receiving and Inventory Administration
Enter all receiving transactions into the ERP system (currently PetroPlus).
Verify received product against packing slips and purchase orders.
Create and apply product labels and assign bin locations for incoming inventory.
Scan receiving documentation and inventory records and upload them to the appropriate company server locations.
Maintain organized documentation related to receiving and inventory movements.
Warehouse Operations
Assist with daily warehouse operations including offloading trailers and incoming shipments.
Load and unload bulk oil and other warehouse materials.
Support safe and efficient movement of products within the warehouse.
Ensure proper storage practices and bin location accuracy.
Operational Support
Provide backup coverage for warehouse operations including receiving, staging, and shipping activities.
Work collaboratively with warehouse staff to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Assist in maintaining warehouse organization, cleanliness, and safety standards.
Coverage Responsibilities
Provide vacation and absence coverage for the Inventory Control Manager.
Assist with inventory reporting and coordination during coverage periods.
Support coordination between inventory control and warehouse operations during peak periods.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, or distribution environments.
Experience using ERP or warehouse inventory systems (PetroPlus experience considered an asset).
Experience in the fuel, lubricant, or industrial distribution sector is an asset.
Skills and Competencies
Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy.
Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve inventory issues.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Basic computer proficiency including ERP systems, scanners, and Microsoft Office.
Effective communication and coordination with multiple supervisors.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move materials as required within a warehouse environment.
Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (or willingness to obtain certification).
Comfortable working in an active warehouse environment with industrial products including lubricants and oils.
Operational Direction and Authority
The Inventory Control Supervisor reports directly to the Operations Manager and operates in a coordinated environment with both the Inventory Control Manager and the Warehouse Supervisor.
For clarity of operational direction:
The Operations Manager retains overall supervisory authority and responsibility for performance management, scheduling priorities, and operational oversight of the position.
The Inventory Control Manager provides functional direction regarding inventory control procedures, cycle counts, discrepancy investigations, inventory reporting, and related administrative processes.
The Warehouse Supervisor provides functional direction regarding daily warehouse workflow, receiving activities, material handling, and order fulfillment priorities.
Where conflicting instructions arise, the Operations Manager will determine operational priorities.
The Inventory Control Supervisor is expected to communicate effectively with all supervising roles to ensure inventory accuracy and efficient warehouse operations.
Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Maintain warehouse inventory accuracy target of approximately 98–99%.
Complete scheduled cycle counts within required timelines.
Assist in timely investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
Ensure accurate ERP receiving entries with minimal corrections required.
Provide reliable support for warehouse operations including order picking and product handling.
Maintain organized digital filing of inventory documentation.
Follow company safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe warehouse environment.

Support a culture of operational efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
