Job Description

Internship – Business Management for Environmental Consulting

Location: Seattle, WA / Irvine, CA / Hybrid

Compensation:  $23.00 / hour

What Is the Opportunity?

Anchor QEA is seeking a highly motivated Business Management Intern to support strategic growth, financial planning, and market analysis across our environmental practice. This internship is designed for MBA students who want hands-on exposure to real-world strategy and financial decision-making in a mission-driven, technically complex organization.

The intern will work directly with senior leadership to analyze where we are today, identify trends shaping our markets, and help inform decisions that position the firm for sustainable growth in 2026 and beyond. The internship culminates in an executive-facing capstone project that integrates market intelligence, financial analysis, and strategic insights tied to our environmental business.

What Are We Looking For?

Currently enrolled in an MBA program, preferably with a focus in strategy, finance, analytics, or operations

Demonstrated experience building and interpreting
analytical or financial models (e.g., forecasting and scenario analysis)

Experience with Excel (pivot tables, scenario modeling, sensitivity analysis) and financial modeling; familiarity with client resource management systems or PowerBI is a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with comfort structuring ambiguous problems using incomplete or imperfect data

Ability to interpret and synthesize technical or quantitative information into business insights

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organizational skills and a project management mindset, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines

Interest in environmental restoration, climate resilience, or funding-driven public-sector markets

Professional, collaborative idea—with a sense of curiosity and fun along the way

What Are the Responsibilities?

Deliver a structured, data-driven capstone project that informs growth strategy, investment decisions, or market positioning. To support this goal, the business management intern may be asked to:

Partner with the Market Growth Initiative Leader to conduct market research, competitive analysis, and funding stream assessments supporting targeted growth initiatives

Collaborate with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Leader to connect market insights with financial performance for pipeline, sales, backlog, and revenue trends

Analyze historical and current financial performance by market segment and identify risks and opportunities tied to revenue realization

Assist in evaluating organic growth opportunities and support preliminary assessment of potential merger and acquisition (M&A) targets, including financial and strategic considerations

Analyze client resource management and sales pipeline data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities

Support development and review of financial and scenario-based models used for investment and growth planning

Prepare clear, concise analyses and presentations for senior leadership and internal stakeholders

Conduct research on prospective clients, industries, funding programs, and emerging market trends in resilience and restoration

Assist with data analysis, synthesis, and report development related to strategic initiatives

What Can You Expect?

Real impact: Your work will directly inform leadership decisions tied to growth, investment, and market positioning

Senior-level exposure: Work closely with firm leadership and technical experts across multiple disciplines

Strategic depth: Gain hands-on experience in strategy, FP&A, market analysis, and M&A screening

Mission-driven work: Contribute to projects that protect communities, infrastructure, and ecosystems

Capstone-driven: Leave with a tangible, executive-level project that demonstrates real-world strategy and financial analysis experience

Purpose: A collaborative environment where we encourage everyone to bring their authentic self.
