Description of Assignment
Join a global Data Privacy team that is building a future-proof privacy program and help shape how personal data is protected worldwide. Vanderlande is developing a Global Data Privacy Management System to ensure consistent compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR across all business functions and entities. As an intern, you will support the Data Privacy Team by identifying and documenting data processing activities, validating information with stakeholders, and helping maintain accurate Records of Processing Activities (RoPA). You will also assist with Data Privacy Impact Assessments, vendor assessments, and data subject requests, while contributing to privacy communication materials, training content, templates, and intranet pages.
Department Description
As part of our continuous improvement efforts, we are exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support and optimize engineering processes from sales design to delivery up and to service. Our department is responsible for translating the as sold sales design to a completely engineered baggage handling system, taking into account increasing customer demands. With systems getting larger and more complex, generating the necessary output for project execution is getting more and more complex. This internship aims to identify, evaluate, and prototype AI applications that can bring measurable value to our engineering department.
Tasks/Responsibilities
• Support the setup and operationalization of the Data Privacy Management System with a focus on RoPA readiness and data quality.
• Identify and evaluate data processing activities by interviewing process owners and reviewing systems/tools in scope.
• Collect and validate RoPA input (purposes, categories of data/subjects, recipients, retention, security measures, transfers).
• Maintain and update RoPA entries in the selected tooling (or structured Excel/template), ensuring proper versioning and audit trail.
• Identify gaps or risks (e.g., missing lawful basis, unclear retention periods, incomplete processor information) and propose follow‑up actions.
• Support related governance deliverables (e.g., DPIA triggers, vendor privacy checks, documentation standards, reporting).
Your Profile
• Basic programming knowledge (Python preferred)
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving
• Interest in AI and (mechanical) engineering innovation
• Communication and documentation skills*Mandatory enrolment to a Dutch Education System & resident of The Netherlands.
