This role will develop and lead all of Light a Single Candle’s (LASC) Income Generation work. The focus is primarily international but will have some application in St. Louis.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement a scalable and replicable income-generation model tailored to the communities we serve
Support Implementing Partners to identify, research, and evaluate successful income-generating projects along with strategy execution
Build and document processes, systems, and tools to support income-generating work within our projects
Collaborate with internal team members to ensure alignment, resources and operational integration of new initiatives
Lead pilots, assess feasibility, and manage risk on new income generation strategies
Analyze historic organizational data to understand past efforts, both successful and failed, and use insights to inform future strategies
Assist our Partners in Creating business plans and return on investment (ROI) projections for potential earned income streams for each community
Build an integrated measurement and evaluation framework including benchmarks to track financial and impact performance of income-generating initiatives across all Partner portfolios on income generation projects
Define clear key performance indicators (KPI) and create data dashboards to communicate progress and learning with leadership and stakeholders
Support all income generation projects from the schedule design to the completion of the project to include a final statement of the sustainability and ROI on the project
Compile and analyze cost benefit analysis documents for each project
Develop and nurture relationships with Partners and project managers on each project
Implement a process to confirm the actual net incremental income by Partner at the end of each year to confirm accuracy and learnings
Track the execution of income projections year over year with the annual results, while comparing them to results at the end of the proposed project time frame
Intervene with Partners and Implementing Partners as needed to achieve the
income generation results
Actively learn and research opportunities for income generation potential and propose to others for feedback and implementation
Additional Expectations:
Candidate will reside in St. Louis, MO region and work out of the Chesterfield, MO office
The LASC team members work together predominantly from our office, remote work exceptions are occasional or as needed
Understands the role of LASC and philanthropic organizations as a supportive and long-term relationship with its Partners
Assist the President and Executive Director of the foundation as requested and perform additional duties as necessary
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
3-5 years’ experience in International Program Development
High math and organizational skills
Entrepreneurial mindset with a proven track record of building or scaling business
Strong measurement and evaluation experience, particularly in tracking performance across financial, operational, and social impact metrics
Excellent computer skills, including Excel spreadsheet proficiency
Demonstrated ability to research best practices from similar organizations
Excellent process development and organizational design skills
Strong relationship-building and interpersonal communication skills, with experience managing external stakeholders and partnerships
Proactive, adaptable, and highly self-directed toward action
Ability to present data and findings to LASC Leadership team and Partners
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Wage and Benefits:
Will be competitive and dependent upon earnings history, skills and qualifications.
This first time role has a salary range of $90,000-$110,000

Light a Single Candle Foundation was founded in 2002 and its focus is sustainable poverty recovery, food security, income development and sustainable community transformation. About 100 projects were funded through our community partners in both 2023 and 2024. Internationally we work in El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica. In the USA we serve in St. Louis MO. Our key to success is working through and with our Partners. In addition to our Founder/President and his spouse who take an active role in the leadership of the organization, this new role will be our 11th employee.
