Job Description

Job Title: Tavern Assistant Manager

 

Reports To: Tavern Manager

 

Classification: Exempt

 

Wage Range:  $21 - $22 per hour DOE

 

The primary responsibility of the Assistant Manager is to serve as the “right-hand” of the Tavern Manager.  The Assistant Manager is responsible for implementing workflow procedures and processes based on direction from the Manager, supervising employees during day-to-day tasks, providing customer support in escalated situations, and filling in for the Manager when they are not on-site.  Additional responsibilities include learning Yellow Dog Inventory Program, ordering for the Tavern and Poolside Bar, and assisting with organization of the Tavern and Poolside Bar.   

 

Quinn’s Hot Springs Resort is open year-round, 7 days a week. Candidates must be available as needed to meet the needs of the Tavern.

 

Essential Job Functions: 

Responsible for working alongside the Manager in support of the overall success of the Tavern and Poolside Bar.

Provide coverage of roles as needed based on need, which could include regularly scheduled shifts as a server or in the Poolside Bar.

Assume the responsibility of Manager in times of absence (days off, PTO, etc.).

Training, guidance, and coaching of all Tavern employees.

Ensure team members meet quality and process/procedure expectations.

Assist Manager in all aspects of employee interactions, including disciplinary actions as needed.

Document all employee incidents as needed.

Assist in the preparation and delivery of performance reviews.

Become familiar with all computer systems.

Assist with departmental onboarding process.

Track employee training i.e. alcohol training, new employee orientation, etc.

Attend at least 1 New Hire Orientation per year

Attend at least 10 out of 12 Leadership Meetings per year

Utilize all computer programs currently used in the Tavern including Simphony, Orbital Shift, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams and more.

Assist in management of Yellow Dog Inventory system and ordering through vendors for Tavern and Poolside through US Foods, Sysco, Beer vendors, and liquor orders for both departments.

Complete required reports timely as assigned by the Manager. (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly)

Build and strengthen relationships with Tavern, other department managers, and coworkers at QHSR.

Take an active role in keeping a safe work environment to prevent accidents/injuries-respond urgently to resolve and report safety incidents that may happen.

Promote a positive work environment/good team member morale.

Monitor and work with manager to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Collaborate with the Manager to ensure consistency, compliance, and departmental communication.

Perform other related duties as requested by the Manager.

 

Education/Experience: 

Previous experience in hospitality industry.

Previous experience in management a plus.

 

Required Skills/Abilities: 

Must work at least 5 shifts per week, 38-40 hours per week.

Weekend and evening availability required.

Must be available to work/be scheduled when the manager is absent (days off/vacations).

Previous experience in a leadership role.

Previous experience in a bar or bartender role with bartending experience.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Montana Alcohol Certification, Food Safety Certification.

Strong leadership and initiative.

People person, able to provide excellent customer service and deal with difficult, unhappy customers.

Communicate effectively verbally and written.

Able to motivate, coach, guide and train team members.

Strong problem solving/analytical skills.

Relationship building skills.

  

Abilities: 

Able to lift, push, pull up to 50lbs.

Able to carry cases of liquor and large boxes up and down stairs for storage.

Able to perform all the tasks that we expect of the FOH team.

Capable of multitasking and adjusting to changing priorities on a regular basis.

Use sound business judgement in making recommendations and decisions.

Ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment.

Flexible and can adjust to multiple requests with changing assignments in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work all shifts including weekends as needed.
