Schedule: Grave: Monday - Thursday (8pm - 6:30am)
US Synthetic has an immediate need for a Bearings CNC Programmer Apprentice located in Orem, UT. The Bearings CNC Programmer Apprentice will run new or existing Bearings products on all CNC equipment (CNC Lathe, CNC Mill, EDM, Grinders, Lappers and CMM) for prototype product, customer requests, fixtures, tooling, and machine parts etc. Communicates daily with Bearings CNC Programming and Applications Specialist teams for scheduling of projects and priorities. Maintain equipment, responds to manufacturing Andon’s and resolves day to day issues and process needs. Runs experiments on new products or processes for the programming team and produces data as requested. Begins training on basic CNC programming.

What You Will Do:
Apprenticeship to learn creations of CAD/CAM programming for Polycrystalline Diamond Compound (PDC) bearing machining
Assist and work alongside application programmers
Support CMM programming for production cells
Flex to R&D and Prototype cell to produce new product as needed
FAI support – inspect and measure parts for accuracy and conformance to product specifications
Assist and work with Customer Engineers on new product launch
Modifies programs as needed
Test run low qty’s of all new programs for prototypes and run parts for some production needs
Assist in standardizing parameters on new programming routines
Troubleshoot CNC code, machine condition and material abnormalities
Record run time data, measurement information, etc. for prototype work
Set up and machine fixtures for production and non-production work
Train personnel utilizing EDGE method, supporting production and operations trainers
Follow all company policies (Attendance, No Tobacco Products on Campus, Illegal Drug & Alcohol, Family Medical Leave Act, Personal Appearance, Personal Electronic Devices, Vacation & Personal Time, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma/GED is required
Immigration sponsorship not available for this role
Machinist degree/certificate or Bearings CNC training
1-2 years of set-up and operating Bearings CNC equipment
Physical Demands:
Regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Standing for 8 or more hours
Work long hours in front of CNC
Full range of body motion
Visual inspection highly required
Safety equipment (Safety Glasses, Steel toe safety shoes)
Preferred Qualifications:
Lathe and Mill experience
Grinding, lapping & Wire EDM experience
CMM programming experience (MCOSMOS)
Creo CAD/CAM experience
Mastercam experience
Knowledge of numerical code and code editing
Extensive geometry knowledge, some algebra and trigonometry
Excellent attention to detail
Basic engineering/physics principles, through training or experience
Ability to prioritize activities and projects
Computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
Fixture mechanics knowledge
Precision measuring tools knowledge
Quality certified inspector
Mechanical aptitude
Interpersonal and communication skills and works well in a team environment.
Ability to work independently and carry out responsibilities with little supervision
Ability to read and understand technical prints or special information
