The Internal Control Specialist is responsible for supporting the design, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the internal control framework within SGS Katowice. The role ensures that key controls are effectively implemented, properly documented, and aligned with internal requirements, service agreements, and applicable regulatory standards. The position contributes to maintaining a robust control environment, supporting audit readiness, and fostering a strong control culture across the organization.
• Execute and monitor internal controls for processes delivered by SGS Katowice, including testing of design and operating effectiveness, where applicable.
• Ensure that control activities are documented accurately and supported by complete, audit-ready evidence.
• Identify control deficiencies, track remediation actions, and follow up with process owners to support timely resolution.
• Support business process owners and SGS Katowice teams in maintaining effective controls within standardized and outsourced processes.
• Collaborate with affiliates and other stakeholders to ensure clear control ownership, consistency of control execution, and alignment with service agreements.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, responding to queries, and providing transparency on control execution.
• Contribute to the standardization, simplification, and automation of control activities and testing procedures.
• Maintain high-quality control documentation and support continuous improvement of the control environment.
• Promote internal control awareness and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
Required skills
• University degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
• Minimum 3 years of experience in internal control, audit, or finance
• Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, control design, and testing methodologies
• Practical understanding of control processes and standard case resolution
• Excellent problem-solving and data synthesis skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy under pressure
• Ability to identify control gaps and recommend improvements
• Proactive, curious, and improvement-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently and apply sound judgment
• Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Fluency in English
• Excellent documentation, reporting, and organizational skills
Nice to Have
• Professional qualifications (ACA/CPA/CIA/CIMA)
• Experience in a Shared Service (GBS/SSC) or multinational environment
• Knowledge of additional languages
• Very good knowledge of Excel and other digital/reporting tools
• Experience in process standardization or automation
