Are you interested in pursuing a path toward school leadership? This Program for Licensure
develops the Professional Standards for an Elementary Principal/Assistant Principal. This opportunity culminates with the mentor documenting the successful induction process, which is co-signed with the Superintendent of Lawrence Family Development Charter School (LFDCS). The Verification/Endorsement Forms for Elementary Assistant Principal/Principal Licensure note that the LFDCS professional successfully completed an Administrative Apprenticeship/Internship of 500 hours.
The
LFDCS Program for Principal/Assistant Principal Licensure Prek-8 has a focus on both individual and collaborative work.
A key element of this opportunity is the Massachusetts Performance Assessment for Leadership (MA-PAL) Task work and practical fieldwork experiences to support the candidate’s learning, growth and preparation as a future principal/assistant principal or teacher leader.

2026 Application for the Aspiring Leaders’ Academy at LFDCS:

Program Requirements:
Candidates Must:
Have at least three years of successful teaching at LFDCS, including end-of-year evaluations at the Proficient or Exemplary level.
Must possess an initial or professional educator license and SEI endorsement.
Accept additional program responsibilities with duties suggested by the Superintendent/ Assistant Superintendent/Principal.
Work in an approved leadership/supervisory role (including extended day or summer opportunities).
Attend a 1-year cycle of School Board and School Site Council Meetings.
Participate in Cohort meetings and shadowing.
Pay required MA-PAL fees ($159 per Task).
Continue to work at LFDCS for three years beyond completion of the licensure program or remit the fees invested in the coach.
Program Application Process:
Complete the Application on Bamboo.
Submit the completed application by March 30, 2026. Decisions will be announced by April 17.
Agree to the Program Requirements.
The program begins in October 2026 and ends June 2028 (exact dates to be arranged with the coach).
Lawrence Family Development Charter School District incurs all program fees for the coach consultant (approximately $6,600 per participant) and sponsors candidates in the program at no cost to the candidate. MA-PAL fees are the responsibility of the candidate including those incurred in the event of re-takes.
