About Carlsmed
Our mission is to improve outcomes and decrease the cost of healthcare for spine surgery. The Carlsmed
aprevo® personalized surgery platform is designed to improve the standard of care for spine surgery one patient at a time.
Position Description
We are seeking motivated and curious college students to join our team as interns. This opportunity is ideal for junior, senior, and graduate students pursuing a technical degree, especially in fields such as marketing, business, engineering, computer science, health sciences, biology, materials science, or related disciplines. As an intern, you will work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects that may span product development, quality, regulatory support, marketing, medical affairs, manufacturing, or R&D.
These paid internships are expected to run from mid-June to September. Internships are on-site at our Carlsbad, CA office.
This is a hands-on, learning-focused experience designed to provide exposure to the medical device industry and personalized healthcare solutions.
Responsibilities
Support project teams in areas such as design, research, documentation, process improvement, and data analysis
Assist in prototype development, research and analysis, or CAD modeling, depending on assignment
Participate in team meetings and present updates on project work
Conduct literature reviews, technical research, and data organization to support engineering and clinical teams
Assist in preparing reports, summaries, or documentation for internal or regulatory use
Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, quality professionals, and other team members
Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a junior, senior, or graduate-level program in a STEM-related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biology, Materials Science, Computer Science, or a related discipine
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Willingness to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Basic familiarity with engineering tools (e.g., Excel, CAD, lab equipment) is a plus but not required
Passion for innovation and interest in healthcare or medical technology is a bonus
