The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Intermediate Estimator with a background in civil construction and/or engineering who is ready to deliver accurate, competitive bids. With a diverse fleet of equipment, a supportive team, and opportunities for professional growth, you’ll play a valuable role in projects that make a difference in communities we work and live in.
As an Intermediate Estimator, you’ll lead quantity takeoffs, pricing, and bid preparation for civil infrastructure work—reviewing drawings and specifications, analyzing subcontractor and supplier quotes, and assembling complete proposals. You’ll collaborate with operations to validate production rates, means and methods, and schedules, ensuring estimates align with safety, quality, and project requirements. Ideal candidates are detail oriented, deadline driven, and effective in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
This role is based out of Kelowna, with the possibility of travel to out-of-town projects on a rotational schedule. If you are positive, people-oriented, and eager to grow in the civil construction industry, this could be the role for you!
Your Key Responsibilities
Assist in creating estimates for Civil and Heavy Civil projects under the guidance of the Senior Estimating Leadership.
Help / lead review and develop scopes of work for subcontractors.
Assist in producing detailed material take-offs.
Support the production of high-level project schedules.
Help review project documents to confirm complete bid packages.
Assist in producing bid packages for subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist with maintaining current labour, equipment, and material resource rates.
Assist in producing detailed bid analysis of subtrade quotes.
Support the review of projects for cost savings and materials alternate opportunities.
Monitoring Procurement platforms daily for suitable tender opportunities to the Pre-construction Manager
Assist in reviewing public bid sites for bid opportunities.
Attend site visits as required.
Perform other duties assigned by management.
Your Qualifications & Skills
3+ years’ experience in construction estimating within the civil and heavy civil sectors —with a preference for Heavy Civil experience.
Ideal candidate has relevant construction field experience to compliment their abilities as an estimator.
Strong analytical skills with attention to details.
Knowledgeable in construction work site sequences.
Knowledgeable in project management.
Proficient in using estimating software (e.g. B2W Estimate (or equivalent), Bluebeam, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent organizational, technical and time management skills.
Familiarity with procurement platforms (e.g. BCBid, Bids and Tenders, Bonfire, etc.)
A degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
