Intermediate Compressor Mechanic

White Tail Automation, in conjunction with Victory Compression and Power, is seeking a skilled Intermediate Compressor Mechanic to join our operations team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing natural gas compressors and related equipment. This role is well-suited for someone who is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and ready to contribute to reliable field operations in a fast-paced environment.

What You Will Be Doing:

Compressor Maintenance & Repair

Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on reciprocating and rotary screw compressors.

Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation issues affecting compressor performance.

Conduct rebuilds on engines, frames, cylinders, valves, and other mechanical components.

Inspect and service compressor engines, coolers, filters, lubrication systems, and fuel systems.

Assist with major overhauls under the direction of senior mechanics.

Operations Support

Monitor compressor performance and operating parameters to identify irregularities.

Start up, shut down, and operate equipment during maintenance or troubleshooting.

Support pipeline, facility, and production teams in maintaining optimal compression levels.

Maintain accurate service records, logs, and documentation.

Safety & Compliance

Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (OSHA, DOT, etc.).

Participate in hazard identification, JSA completion, and tailgate safety meetings.

Ensure proper lockout/tagout and safe work practices during all maintenance activities.

Technical & Administrative

Use maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders and complete service reports.

Communicate effectively with supervisors, operations teams, and third-party vendors.

Assist in ordering parts and inventory management for compressor-related components.

Your Skills and Qualifications:

3–5 years of experience working with natural gas compressors or similar industrial equipment.

Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and engine-related issues.

Trade certification or technical diploma in mechanical maintenance, millwrighting, or related field.

Experience working in oil & gas, midstream, or industrial plant environments.

Familiarity with CMMS platforms and digital reporting tools.

Experience with common compressor brands (Ariel, CAT, Waukesha, Cummins, Corken, or similar).

Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.

Strong understanding of lubrication, cooling, compression cycles, and mechanical systems.

Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems as they relate to compressor functionality.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Working Conditions:

Field-based role with travel to various sites as required.

Work performed in outdoor industrial environments, in varying weather conditions.

On-call rotation or overtime may be required.

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
