Position Overview
We’re looking for an Intermediate Architectural Technologist to join our Estimating & Drafting team. If you’re detail-oriented, technically strong, and eager to bring plans to life through accurate, buildable, and code-compliant drawings, we’d love to meet you.
In this role, you’ll produce high-quality working drawings and permit packages that keep projects moving—from revisions and redlines through approvals and construction-ready documentation. You’ll coordinate inputs from internal stakeholders and external consultants and help keep our drawing libraries and files organized, current, and easy to retrieve.
Key Responsibilities
Drawings & Permit Packages
Prepare complete working drawing sets for residential multi-family projects, including architectural site plans, floor plans, foundations, elevations, sections, and details.
Review existing drawings and plan sets and complete revisions as required (redlines, internal updates, and municipality comments).
Create and revise permit packages to ensure compliance with local bylaws, architectural controls, and the Alberta Building Code.
Coordination & Approvals
Submit, track, and support architectural approvals and building permits; update drawings as required based on review feedback.
Coordinate inputs with engineers, consultants, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate permit and construction packages.
Review site plans and lot fits to confirm setbacks, grading considerations, and structural placement; support lot/site inspections as required for approvals.
Support project teams with drawing-related needs for pre-qualification and tender submission packages, as required.
Standards, Libraries & Process Improvement
Maintain drawing file organization and version control; keep standard plan/detail libraries current and easy to retrieve.
Contribute practical improvements to templates, standards, checklists, and workflows to improve quality and reduce rework.
Collaborate effectively with the Estimating & Drafting team, project teams, and subconsultants to keep projects on schedule.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in Architectural Technology, Drafting, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
2+ years of residential drafting/technology experience (production homebuilding is an asset).
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; SketchUp and/or Lumion are assets.
Solid understanding of wood-frame residential construction and how drawings translate to field execution.
Working knowledge of the Alberta Building Code and municipal bylaws (or ability to learn and apply quickly).
Excellent attention to detail and time management; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Clear written and verbal communication, with confidence coordinating with consultants and internal teams.
High level of organization and accountability for file structure, version control, and document quality.
Additional Requirements
You produce clean, consistent drawings that are construction-ready and reduce rework.
You think ahead about bylaw/code impacts and respond well to redlines and approval comments.
You maintain strong file/version control and take accountability for your deliverables.
You coordinate clearly with internal teams and external consultants to keep work moving.
You manage shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced homebuilding environment.
