Position Summary
Are you an architectural technologist ready to take the next step in your career? Aggregate Design Studio is seeking a full-time Intermediate Architectural Technologist who is eager to contribute their expertise, provide guidance to junior team members, and play a key role in delivering high-quality design solutions.
As an Intermediate Technologist, you’ll work on a diverse range of projects—commercial, industrial, agricultural, and multi-residential—primarily involving precast concrete construction. You’ll collaborate closely with our design team, bring concepts to life through Revit, SketchUp, and Enscape, and contribute thoughtful insights during project and departmental discussions. Your experience preparing permit and construction drawings will be essential, and your leadership will help elevate the skills and confidence of junior technologists.
Job Description
Create design drawings from preliminary design through to permit and construction stages
Produce high-quality 3D renderings that accurately reflect design intent and client requests
Review and analyze building codes, bylaws, site information, and technical documents
Prepare drawings based on conceptual sketches and architectural direction
Collaborate with Project Leads throughout all stages of project development
Coordinate with engineers, consultants, and other project stakeholders to deliver complete drawing packages
Prepare design presentations for client approval, including drawings and renderings
Attend and participate actively in client, consultant, and internal meetings; document clear, accurate meeting notes
Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to junior team members as needed
Act as a positive role model by demonstrating leadership, strong communication, and commitment to company standards
Contribute insights and participate meaningfully in departmental discussions and process improvements
Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Requirements
Architectural Technology diploma or equivalent
3-5 years experience in an Architectural Technologist or similar role
Availability Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturday
Minimum 40 hours per week; flexibility and willingness to work overtime when required
Proficiency in Revit, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office
Strong 3D rendering skills for presentations
Solid knowledge of Alberta Building Code/British Columbia Building Code/National Building Code
Proven ability to work independently while supporting junior team members
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Local or willing to relocate to Central Alberta
Assets
Experience designing commercial, industrial, office, agricultural, and multi-residential projects
Experience using Enscape for rendering
Previous construction industry experience
Understanding of precast concrete construction
Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
