For over 35 years, Dartmoor has devoted itself to providing individually focused, one-to-one educational programs to meet student’s diverse learning profiles. We are an NAIS-affiliated, fully accredited private, for-profit school offering a complete program of study for Grades 1 - 12. Dartmoor is approved by OSPI as a private school and Non-Public Agency. Our High School coursework is even approved by the NCAA. We are a year-round open enrollment school with campuses in Bellevue, Bothell, Issaquah, and Seattle.
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Due to the year-round, individualized structure at Dartmoor, we are always accepting applications, but currently have a high need for an elementary instructor available part-time (approx 9AM - 2 PM). This opportunity spans all 4 campuses. We welcome instructors at all stages of their career; from newly entering the workforce to retirees wanting to remain engaged with teaching.
Dartmoor seeks educators who believe first and foremost in the student. All people have the capacity and desire to learn but for various reasons students encounter difficulties that complicate the learning process or social context of learning. Dartmoor focuses on designing programs to engage each student in the educational process and provide a safe environment for the student to thrive. Instructors and administrators have the opportunity to make a tremendous, positive impact in the lives of Dartmoor students. New instructors immediately join a small, tight knit team where you can make a difference from day one. Due to this dynamic, teaching at Dartmoor allows the unique opportunity for instructors to assist in creatively designing programs, and also provides opportunities to implement unique curricular options. Being an instructor at Dartmoor fosters the educator’s creativity, as well as a sense of community amongst the colleagues in the organization. In short, being an instructor at Dartmoor provides a sense of autonomy, community, and the ability to truly impact each student’s educational path.
Dartmoor is a school that values and thrives on collaboration, collective feedback, and input. At Dartmoor School, you are more than just part of an operation; you are a valued team member that is crucial to helping Dartmoor live up to and further its mission.
The ideal candidate will embody our philosophy that the secret of education lies in respecting the pupil and also having a strong academic background (with, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree) and a commitment to individualized education. Experience working with diverse behaviors and special needs students is preferred. All classes are 1:1 and include on-site coursework.
Dartmoor staff take child safety very seriously and strive not only to meet, but to exceed, state requirements and expectations for screening candidates and maintaining current fingerprinting and criminal background checks.
