Hours of Work: Shifts between 5:45 am to 10:00 pm including weekends

Reporting to the Head Lifeguard, the Instructor/Guard will be responsible for assisting with planning and delivery of programs, ensuring safety and supervision of patrons, and completing all records and reports related to aquatic programs. The individual will instruct various aquatic programs and assist with the planning/delivery of core and lesson plans. They will complete records and reports related to aquatic programs and perform daily office procedures, bather loads, checklists, and program statistics. They will provide leadership to student staff and respond to emergencies. The will also assist with staff in-services, orientation and training. The individual will also be required to perform light cleaning duties and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
Must possess Current LSS Swim for Life Certificate and maintain in good standing
Must possess or be willing to obtain Current L.S.S. Instructor Certificate and maintain in good standing
Most possess Current NL Pool Certificate and maintain in good standing
Current Standard First Aid Certificate (Red Cross, LSS or St. John Ambulance) or willing to obtain
Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a proven focus on service delivery
Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures
Ability to work independently and as a team
Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, co-workers, members of the public and other partners in service
Must be available for flexible shifts and split shifts as required. No more than two time blocks in the same day will be scheduled
