About IEM

Industrial Electric Mfg. (IEM) is the largest independent full-line manufacturer of custom power distribution systems in North America. Founded more than 75 years ago in Fremont, California, IEM grew alongside Silicon Valley and today operates over 1.7 million square feet of manufacturing capacity. With $1B+ in annual sales and 10,000+ commissioned projects across technology, data centers, commercial, energy, utilities, healthcare, industrial, and infrastructure markets, IEM continues to deliver exceptional product quality, dependable service, and the flexibility to meet complex technical requirements at scale.

Position Summary

The Instructional Designer is a key member of IEM's Talent Development function, responsible for designing, developing, and continuously improving engaging and effective learning experiences that support organizational goals and drive measurable performance outcomes across our operations.

Working in close partnership with subject matter experts (SMEs), Production, Engineering, Quality, and operational leadership, the Instructional Designer translates complex technical and operational content into high-quality learning solutions — including e-learning modules, instructor-led training materials, job aids, assessments, and multimedia content — delivered across online, in-person, and hybrid formats.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in instructional design methodology, hands-on experience with modern authoring and multimedia tools, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This individual is a creative problem-solver who is passionate about learner experience, data-driven improvement, and building a world-class TD function at IEM.

Design for multiple modalities including instructor-led, e-learning, and blended learning formats.

Develop Engaging Learning Content Create high-quality, multimedia learning experiences using industry-standard authoring and production tools, including Articulate 360, Synthesia, DeepHow, and MS Office. Leverage learner feedback, quality data, and business performance indicators to continuously refine and improve content and delivery methods.

Manage LMS & Learning Technology Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to build, deploy, track, and report on training programs. Maintain accurate course libraries, learner records, and completion data in support of operational and audit requirements.
