A Day in the Life:
The Instructional Designer plays a critical role in supporting the Learning & Development Program Lead and the broader transformation program by designing and developing engaging learning experiences grounded in the ADDIE model. The position translates complex processes and system changes into clear, accessible training materials that help internal staff and external stakeholders adopt new tools and workflows with confidence. This position collaborates with subject matter experts, project teams, and the Learning & Development Program Lead to create eLearning modules, job aids, and instructor led content. In addition, the Instructional Designer ensures materials are tailored to diverse audiences, applies adult learning principles and continuously refines content based on feedback and performance outcomes. This role is hands-on in content creation and central to shaping how learners experience the transformation journey.
Primary Responsibilities:
Content Development
Design and develop training materials including e-learning modules, job aids, quick reference guides, and instructor led content.
Apply instructional design best practices and adult learning principles to ensure effectiveness.
Tailor content for diverse audiences (internal staff, external agents, partners).
Collaborate with the Learning & Development Program Lead to align content with overall training strategy.
Delivery Support
Partner with the Learning & Development Program Lead to prepare facilitators and support training delivery.
Ensure materials are optimized for both virtual and in-person sessions.
Maintain consistency across training artifacts and platforms.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with subject matter experts to translate technical and process knowledge into learner-¬friendly content.
Coordinate with project teams to ensure training materials reflect current system functionality and business processes.
Incorporate feedback from learners, facilitators, and stakeholders into content updates.
Support the business and SMEs as they transition from longstanding, department-specific training practices to more consistent, modern approaches, gradually introducing new practices.
Collaborate with Human Resources for internal training needs and LMS support.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
Support evaluation of training effectiveness through surveys, assessments, and learner feedback.
Recommend improvements to content design and delivery methods.
Contribute to reporting on readiness and adoption of metrics.
Essential to Your Success:
In-depth understanding of instructional design models and learning theories
Experience with OIPA (Oracle Insurance Policy Administration) or similar policy administration platforms is strongly preferred
Strong skills in eLearning development tools (Articulate, Captivate, etc.) and LMS platforms
Ability to simplify complex information into clear, engaging learning experiences
Collaborative mindset with strong attention to detail
Clear and effective curriculum-planning and development skills
Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Education Requirements:
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Organizational Development, or related field required
Years of Experience:
A minimum of three years of experience in instructional design, preferably supporting large-scale system implementations required.
