POSITION: INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE ( IA )
JOB DESCRIPTION: The IA’s primary responsibilities and qualifications are listed below. All IAs report to their site administrator (s). The IA is responsible for assisting in the development and performance of the classes they assist in. The IA will foster a collaborative and stimulating classroom environment for a diverse group of students, as well as foster a strong collaboration between parents, faculty members, board members, and community partners.
REPORTS TO : SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR (S)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Fosters a safe and nurturing learning environment
Assist the teacher in maintaining classroom systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning
Supports differentiation or other instructional strategies implemented to ensure that needs of all learners are met
Establishes an environment where students are excited about learning
Supports teachers with data tracking and progress monitoring
Builds strong relationships with students and parents and teachers
Demonstrates support and knowledge of school's goals and mission
Attends and participates in school-based meetings and activities
Can develop or assist in the development of lesson plans according to the CA CCSS and CA State Content Standards
Identifies student areas for improvement and is able to work with the student and family and internal resources to suggest options for improvement
Provides continual assessment of student progress, maintain student records and complete assigned paperwork in provided timeframes.
Collaborates with the Educational specialist and other staff to meet the needs of all students
Attends and implements professional development training throughout and beyond the school year
Demonstrates support and knowledge of school's goals and mission
Participates, attends and plans field trips
Participates in school events during, before and after school
Attends and participates in school-based meetings and activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Meet the requirements of the NCLB & ESSA
Prior experience working with students in a learning environment
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Must be flexible, positive, detail-oriented, team player patient and willing to learn.
Must be able to work in a fast paced work environment with flexibility and dedication
At times this job may entail lifting, walking, sitting and standing for periods of time
No new employee can begin employment until all local mandated trainings are completed and the fingerprint cards are processed by the California Department of Justice and it is determined that there is no criminal conviction that would prohibit the employee from working with students and staff.
