Waterproofing & Coatings Field Technician
Position Summary
The Waterproofing & Coatings Field Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial and residential waterproofing systems, traffic coatings, joint sealants, expansion joints, and protective concrete coatings. This role works directly in the field to ensure surfaces are properly prepared, materials are applied correctly, and projects are completed safely, on time, and to company quality standards.
This is a hands-on position for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, safety, and producing high-quality finished work.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare surfaces by preparing, grinding, repairing cracks, and cleaning surfaces
Install waterproofing membranes, joint sealants, traffic coatings, and protective systems
Apply coatings using rollers, squeegees, spray equipment, and other industry tools
Read and follow instructions, specifications, and product requirements
Set up and maintain jobsite safety, PPE, and fall protection systems
Work with project managers to complete jobs on schedule
Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
Identify safety concerns, project issues, moisture intrusion, or substrate defects and report them
Properly mix, store, and handle all materials
Load, unload, and maintain tools, equipment, and jobsite supplies
Work well with co-workers, customers, and management
Safety & Compliance
Follow OSHA, company, and site-specific safety protocols at all times
Wear required PPE and enforce safety practices on the jobsite
Maintain a safe, hazard-free working environment for crew and property occupants
Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, or incidents
Required Skills & Qualifications
Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor and indoor environments
Comfortable working on elevated surfaces, ladders, and lifts
Ability to learn and properly use coating, waterproofing, and surface-prep equipment
Ability to follow written instructions, safety data sheets, and installation guidelines
Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to work as part of a crew and take direction from supervisors
Preferred (but not required):
Experience in waterproofing, concrete coatings, sealants, roofing, or construction
Experience using grinders, mixers, sprayers, and jobsite tools
