WHY YOU WANT TO WORK FOR DIRECT COMMUNICATIONS:
Imagine working for a company with over 75 years of stability that still moves with the agility of a startup. At Direct Communications, we don’t just provide internet; we connect rural communities to the world. We are looking for people who share our obsession with Integrity, Growth, Respect, Sustainability, Strategic Decision Making and Community.
We believe that if we take care of you, you will take care of our customers. That is why we offer an industry-leading benefits package that includes Health, Dental, and Vision insurance for just 50¢ per paycheck. We also provide a 401(k) with a massive 6% match, generous paid time off, tuition reimbursement for your personal and professional growth, and financial wellness support. This is more than a job; it is a place where you can build a future.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking a tech-savvy problem solver to join our Outside Fiber Plant (OSP) team. In this role, you act as the bridge between our high-tech network and the customers who rely on it. You aren't just reading a script; you are the detective who troubleshoots complex internet, landline, and DSL issues, ensuring our subscribers stay connected.
What you will do:
Be the Expert: Provision subscriber internet and telephone services, ensuring the "magic" happens behind the scenes to get customers online.
Solve the Puzzle: Professionally troubleshoot and resolve higher-level service and hardware issues (Tier 2 support) for landlines, fiber, DSL, and cable internet.
Proactive Protection: Monitor systems to identify potential service issues before the customer even notices, contacting them to offer assistance.
Innovate: Maintain a sharp technological edge, staying current on cutting-edge technologies (like outdoor Wi-Fi and managed routers) and their applicability to our business.
Team Collaboration: Provide secondary support for field technicians, assisting with installations and confirmations to ensure the OSP team succeeds in the field.
WHO YOU ARE:
We are looking for more than just a resume; we are looking for the right person. You will fit perfectly here if you are:
Hungry for Results: You are action-oriented and self-motivated. You don’t wait to be told what to do; you see a challenge and you attack it with enthusiasm.
People Smart: You possess high emotional intelligence. You are diplomatic and patient, capable of diffusing high-tension situations and building rapport with customers and colleagues alike.
Humble & Collaborative: You define success collectively. You are willing to jump in and assist the field techs or Customer Service Reps because you know that we win as a team.
A Strategic Thinker: You make quality decisions based on analysis and wisdom, looking beyond the obvious to find the root cause of technical issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Computer-related field certifications are highly preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting telecommunications, internet technology, systems, and hardware.
Specialized Knowledge: 2+ years of experience working with fiber, DSL, and landline services is preferred.
Requirements: Must maintain a valid Driver’s License with a good driving record and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To support our field team and maintain our network, you should be comfortable with:
Lifting and carrying 35-50 lbs frequently.
Climbing ladders and working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Movements including kneeling, stooping, crawling, and wrist twisting.
Frequent use of computers, laptops, and tablets.
THE BENEFITS (The Full Package):
We invest in you so you can invest in your future.
Unbeatable Health Coverage: Health/Dental/Vision Insurance for 50¢ per paycheck.
Retirement: 401(k) with 6% Company matching.
Time Off: Generous paid time off (prorated 14 days in year 1) plus 10 observed/paid holidays.
Wellness: Tele-Health Services and Preventative Wellness Programs.
Protection: Company-paid Life Insurance (Basic & AD&D), Short-term Disability, and Long-term Disability.
Growth: Professional & Personal Tuition Reimbursement Program.
Perks: Free internet if you live within our service footprint and Financial Wellness Support.
Security: Voluntary Flex Spending, Supplemental Life, Accident, and Critical Illness Insurance.
