About Your Role
The Mechanical Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems on public works construction projects meet applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. This role involves inspecting HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems throughout all phases of construction while coordinating with contractors, engineers, and project teams to ensure compliance and quality.

What You’ll Need to Get the Job Done
Qualifications
3+ years of experience performing mechanical inspections on large-scale Public Works projects
Experience inspecting HVAC systems (rough and finish)
Experience with plumbing systems including pumps, piping, ducts, equipment, controls, vaults, and underground systems
Experience inspecting fire sprinkler systems
Experience reviewing and approving monthly progress payments
Experience reviewing as-built drawings
Strong report writing and documentation skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inspection-related software
What Will Make You Stand Out
Experience on large infrastructure or capital improvement projects
Familiarity with Prolog and VEO systems
Strong coordination and communication skills
Certification / License
ICC Commercial Mechanical Inspector Certification
Cal-OSHA 30 (within last 4 years)
What You’ll Do
Perform mechanical inspections on public works construction projects
Inspect HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems for code compliance
Review contractor work for adherence to project specifications
Evaluate and approve monthly progress payments
Review and verify as-built drawings
Prepare clear and detailed inspection reports
Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders
Support project schedules, including overtime and weekend work if required
