About the Innovator in Residence program

Innovation doesn’t stop with our client projects. We want to push the boundaries of what’s possible at the intersection of engineering, AI, robotics, and emerging technologies. Our Innovator in Residence initiative brings a PhD student or graduate, a post-doc, or researcher into our ecosystem to explore forward-thinking ideas and shape the future of technology.

This is not a traditional role. It’s a residency where you’ll have the freedom and support to:
1. Investigate big questions in robotics, advanced engineering, or related fields.
2. Experiment and prototype ideas that may not yet have a defined commercial application.
3. Collaborate with our teams of AI experts, software engineers, and designers to share knowledge and
cross-pollinate ideas.
4. Create outputs such as research articles, prototypes, talks, or workshops to inspire both our team and the broader community.

Your work will bridge theory and practice, advancing knowledge in areas connected to Osedea’s expertise while contributing to a culture of curiosity and exploration. We expect you to have your own research topic, this program will help you explore it. We will not be providing you with the research subject.

What we’re looking for :
• Recently completed (or soon-to-be completed) PhD or current post-doctoral researcher in fields such as robotics, mechanical/electrical/software engineering, AI, or adjacent domains.
• Strong research background with publications, prototypes, or applied projects.
• Ability to translate complex research into accessible formats (talks, demos, papers, or other forms of knowledge-sharing).
• Curiosity for interdisciplinary collaboration, comfortable working with engineers, designers, and business teams.
• Bold and imaginative thinker who wants to test ideas that could have real-world impact.

Program details:
• Duration: 6–12 months (flexible, depending on project scope).
• Residency structure: hybrid, based in Montreal with access to Osedea’s office and innovation space.
• Compensation: competitive stipend based on experience and duration.

How to apply

Send us your CV, research portfolio (papers, projects, or prototypes), and a short proposal (1–2 pages) outlining the research direction or question you’d like to explore during the residency.

Process
1. Deadline to apply: February 15th 2026
2. Selection process will be finalized by March 10th; start between March 30th and June 15th.
3. We welcome applications from across Canada. However, any fees associated with your relocation won’t be covered by Osedea.
