Position Overview
We are seeking a capable and reliable technologist with experience delivering complex technical projects in the defence sector. This role is focused on innovation: problem resolution, development of new solutions, market research, and horizon scanning for value creation. This role involves working closely with engineering teams and European government and/or military customers to ensure high-quality, compliant and timely project delivery.
The ideal candidate will bring a solid foundation in technical problem resolution, demonstrate sound judgement, and be comfortable navigating both technical and operational contexts in a multinational environment. A background in military service or in delivering commercial work to defence and/or government customers is essential.
Responsibilities
Translate operational needs into implementable solutions: conceptual overview, high level solution design, acceptance criteria, and test plans.
Lead rapid prototyping, integration, and lab/field trials, capture evidence, and drive iteration.
Maintain working familiarity to integrate and explain constraints relating to unmanned platforms, sensor-to-response chains, and radar/radio dependencies.
Serve as the central point of contact for project stakeholders, including internal teams, commercial partners and government/military customers during the scoping and problem discovery elements of proposed and active projects/contracts.
Interpret customer requirements, statements of work, and technical documentation, translating them into clear deliverables and action plans.
Advise (and have an opinion on) project activities adherence to applicable regulatory, security, and export control frameworks.
Support technical bid preparation, including scoping, effort estimation and proposal input.
Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, including project reviews and written reporting.
Required Expertise
At least three years’ experience in a similar field, ideally within Defence, aerospace or government contracting sectors.
Prior military service or experience delivering/supporting commercial or engineering projects for military or government customers.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders.
Proven ability to work in cross-functional teams across different countries or time zones.
Proficiency with project management tools (e.g. Microsoft Project, Jira, Confluence or equivalent).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
Professional certification such as APM PMQ, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP or equivalent.
Familiarity with European defence procurement practices or customer engagement models.
Working knowledge of technical compliance areas such as cybersecurity, export controls (e.g. ITAR/EAR), NATO D32, NIST and/or classified project delivery.
A strong interest in emerging defence technologies and systems.
