Innovation Office Intern:
What this role does: Creating guidelines, classifications, and manuals for research publications and patents.
 
Job Description
The successful candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams including engineering, research, operations, and business stakeholders to help establish the foundational processes of the Innovation Project Management Office (PMO). This office is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and structuring projects and ideas that can become intellectual capital such as technical publications, white papers, trade secrets, or patents.
Using gathered technical, market, and internal data, the intern will support the creation of frameworks to capture, assess, and track innovation initiatives across the organization. The role includes researching emerging technologies, documenting innovation opportunities, supporting idea intake processes, and helping define governance models for intellectual property and knowledge creation.
In addition to innovation management activities, this internship offers exposure to project management methodologies, technology scouting, competitive intelligence, and technical writing. The internship’s goal is to provide hands‑on experience in building an innovation PMO from the ground up, with a strong emphasis on structured thinking, research, documentation, and collaboration across technical and non‑technical teams.
 
What you will work on during your internship:
• Review requirements and standards for technical publications, white papers, and patents.
• Define classification criteria to assess whether internal projects are publishable or patentable.
• Create step‑by‑step documentation and manuals for engineers and researchers.
• Analyze existing internal research and map it to publication/IP pathways.
• Support the setup of intake and review processes for innovation projects.
Internship start date: July 1st 2026
Education: Candidate must be actively enrolled in and pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree program for the full 6 months of the internship.
Recommended majors include (but are not limited to):
Engineering (Industrial, Systems, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronics)
Innovation Engineering
Applied Sciences or Technology-related fields
 
Required Qualifications:
• Must be able to work in our Guadalajara site
• Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish
• Strong research, analytical, and technical writing skills
• Experience in research and intellectual property programs
• Ability to synthesize complex technical information into structured documentation
• Experience with technical frameworks (Agile, Design Thinking, Technical Writing, Project Management, intellectual property)
• Intellectual Property concepts (patents, publications, trade secrets)
• Familiarity with collaborative tools and document repositories
• Self‑motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Interest in innovation, intellectual property, and technology trends
Preferred Qualifications:
6‑month experience or academic exposure in one or more of the following areas:
• Project Management or PMO support
• Innovation management
• Technology scouting or competitive analysis
• Technical or academic writing
• Process definition and documentation
• Data analysis
• Experience in research and intellectual property programs
