Infrastructure Architect

• Devise, evolve and maintain the architecture of the core ICT infrastructure services, including the ICT storage infrastructure, virtualisation solutions, including client and server virtualisation, and operating systems;
• Devise, evolve and maintain the baseline network and communications architecture, including telephony, WAN, connectivity services, network management, physical facilities hosting the infrastructure, hardware, networking systems software;
• Identify and specify ICT infrastructure components, providing guidance and review for their implementation and configuration, at an appropriate level of detail agreed with engineering teams;
• Define and evolve the ICT monitoring, observability and alerting architecture, ensuring standardised visibility, tool integration, and operational resilience.
• Support the high-level architecture and design of the ICT IT Service Portal, ensuring integration, security, and alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
• Drive the evaluation and selection of the technical products that are required to implement the ICT infrastructure architecture;
• Write and maintain ICT infrastructure technical standards & guidelines for the organisation;
• Assess business cases, project proposals, and project deliverables, to determine the impact on, and compliance with, the ICT infrastructure architecture, including sizing and capacity planning considerations;
• Produce, maintain, update, disseminate and expand the set of baseline architecture documentation, including the landscape of ICT infrastructure solutions and their respective roadmaps aligned with the business strategy on one side and with the IT evolution on the other side;
• Work in project teams in Prince II or SCRUM led projects;
• Assist engineering teams during complex incidents;
• Provide strategic advice to management on demand or unsolicited.

• Bachelor degree plus 10 years of experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in an ICT Infrastructure/Solution Architecture role
• A minimum of 5 years of work experience in any three of

• Core ICT infrastructure architecture and design, including compute, virtualisation, operating systems, storage, backup and disaster recovery
• Network and communications architecture, including LAN/WAN, connectivity services and network management
• ICT monitoring, observability and alerting architecture and tools
• IT service management platforms and IT service portal architecture (e.g. ITSM / self-service solutions)
•  ICT infrastructure standards definition, technology selection, capacity planning and architectural governance

• Participation in a minimum of 5 projects involving in topics mentioned above
• Good knowledge of datacentre and ICT infrastructure architectures, including compute platforms, server virtualisation, containerisation, server operating systems, enterprise-class storage (block, file and object), and backup and restore solutions.
• Good knowledge of network and communications architectures, including datacentre, campus and metro networks; LAN, WAN, wireless, VPN, public networks and remote access solutions, using both traditional and software-defined approaches.
• Good knowledge of enterprise storage technologies and standards, including block, file and object storage, and related protocols.
• Good knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity architectures, including resilience, high availability, failover and recovery design principles
• Good knowledge of ICT monitoring, observability and alerting concepts, including infrastructure and network monitoring, telemetry collection and operational visibility.

Desirable:

• Good knowledge of enterprise architecture modelling and conceptualisation methods, such as ArchiMate or equivalent frameworks.
• Good knowledge of IT service management concepts and platforms, including ITSM processes, service portals and integration with monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Good knowledge of advanced operational tooling and automation, including firewalls, data diodes, observability platforms, SIEM/SOC, DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code.
• Good knowledge of cloud computing platforms and architectures, including public and hybrid cloud environments (e.g. Azure and/or AWS).
