Information System Security Specialist

ProSync is looking for a highly skilled Information System Security Specialist to serve as a cybersecurity subject matter expert responsible for evaluating, validating, and monitoring the security posture of government information systems. This role ensures compliance with federal cybersecurity standards and government policies while safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of public health data and systems..

RESPONSIBILITIES
As an Information System Security Specialist, you will:

• Conduct comprehensive security assessments of information systems, networks, applications, and cloud environments.
• Perform risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and security control validations in accordance with federal standards (e.g., NIST RMF, FISMA).
• Develop and review security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), Risk Assessment Reports (RARs), and Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms).
• Evaluate implementation of technical, administrative, and physical security controls.
• Identify security gaps and provide actionable remediation recommendations to system owners and stakeholders.
• Support Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes and continuous monitoring activities.
• Monitor compliance with CDC cybersecurity policies and federal regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and deliver technical reports and briefings to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Provide audit support and coordinate responses to internal and external oversight entities.
• Advise leadership on emerging cybersecurity threats, risk trends, and mitigation strategies.

Requirements:
• Five (5) years of experience in the following:
• Experience performing IT security assessments, control validations, and risk analyses in enterprise environments.
• Working knowledge of federal cybersecurity frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST SP 800-53, NIST RMF, FISMA).
• Experience preparing and reviewing security authorization documentation.
• Strong analytical, technical writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with system owners, engineers, and executive leadership.

• An ACTIVE minimum Public Trust clearance is required to be considered for this position.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• A Bachelor's degree in a technical field is required (OR) in lieu of a degree, an additional four (4) years of experience in information security.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

• Need to possess an active IAT-II cert or higher (i.e., Security+, CCNA-Security, GICSP, SSCP, etc.).
