Industrial Engineering Intern (Process Automation)

HelloFresh is built on efficiency, and our Growth Marketing teams—specifically Partnerships, Direct Mail, Gift Cards, and Flyers—are looking for an analytical powerhouse to help us scale. We are seeking an Intern, Industrial Engineering (Process Automation) who is obsessed with finding "a better way."

In this role, you won't be building assembly lines; you’ll be building digital ones. You will act as an internal consultant, mapping out the human workflows that power our physical and digital marketing efforts and identifying where AI and automation can eliminate manual drudgery. This is a role for a process-oriented thinker who is curious about the future of work and eager to apply engineering principles to business operations.

What you’ll do:

• Process Auditing & Mapping: Embed yourself within the Partnerships, Direct Mail, and Gift Card teams to observe and document end-to-end workflows. You’ll create detailed process maps to visualize how tasks move from "concept" to "mailbox."

• Automation Discovery: Identify high-volume, repetitive manual tasks (data entry, asset tagging, partner communications, etc.) that are ripe for AI-driven automation.

• Solution Brainstorming: Facilitate workshops and "innovation jams" with team members to brainstorm how LLMs or automation tools can streamline their daily work.

• Efficiency Analysis: Quantify the "time-waste" of current processes and project the ROI of implementing specific automation solutions.

• Pilot Support: Help the team prototype and implement lightweight automation tools, ensuring that new processes are robust, documented, and user-friendly.

• Detail Documentation: Maintain an extreme eye for detail to ensure that automated processes don't lose the nuance or quality control of manual ones.

What you’ll bring:

• The Engineering Mindset: You are currently pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.

• Process Mapping Wizardry: You have a natural capacity to take a messy human conversation and turn it into a clean, logical flow chart.

• Insatiable Curiosity: You are a "super-user" of tools like ChatGPT, Claude, or Midjourney and are constantly thinking about how they can be applied to business problems.

• Extreme Attention to Detail: You believe that a process is only as good as its edge cases. You spot the small errors that others miss.

• Strong Interpersonal Skills: You can talk to anyone. You have the ability to sit with a team member, understand their pain points, and collaborate on a solution without sounding like a "robot."

• Analytical Rigor: You are comfortable with data and understand how to measure efficiency gains.
