Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Industrial Designer to join our growing design team. This role is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented individual who is passionate about bringing physical products to life. You will support the end-to-end design process — from concept sketching and prototyping to preparing assets for manufacture.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience contributing to products that have been launched, demonstrating an understanding of the fundamentals of industrial design and design for manufacture (DFM).
The role is flexible hybrid, with commute to our Clifton Street office when required, typically 2-3 days. The office is approximately a 7-minute walk from Liverpool Street Station.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in the development of product concepts through sketching, CAD modelling, prototyping, and visual presentations.
Experience with 3D and 2D drawings suitable for prototyping and working with manufacturing partners.
Support the creation and iteration of feasible designs, design intent documentation, and technical files.
Participate in design reviews and contribute creative and practical solutions to design challenges.
Research materials, production processes, and user trends to inform design decisions.
Collaborate closely with other departments when required.
Prepare presentation material, including renders and visualisations, for internal and external stakeholders.
Assist in managing design files, samples, and documentation throughout the development cycle.
Conducting end user research through focus groups and occasional site visits.
Required Skills and Experience
Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering or a related field.
Demonstrable experience in physical product design.
Solid understanding of design fundamentals, including form development, ergonomics, CMF, and user-centred thinking.
Basic knowledge of design for manufacture (DfM) across common production methods (e.g., injection moulding, sheet metal, simple assemblies).
Proficiency in industry-standard CAD and visualisation tools (e.g., SolidWorks, KeyShot, Adobe CC).
Excellent communication, organisation, and time-management skills.
Happy to commute to Shoreditch office when required (Typically 2 or 3 days a week).
A strong portfolio that clearly communicates design process and decision-making.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience in structural packaging design and/or point-of-sale (POS) display design would be advantageous.
Strong sketching ability is advantageous, but not a requirement.
Familiarity with sustainability considerations and material selection.
Experience preparing assets for suppliers or communicating with manufacturers.
Worked on the design of construction-focused tools.
Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) would be advantageous, but not a requirement.
