Position Summary
The Individual Giving Specialist (IGS) is responsible for driving BVMI’s mid-level gift fundraising strategy and leading the growth of the Legacy Society. This role manages a portfolio of 5- to 6-figure prospects and with a focus on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individuals who contribute significantly to BVMI’s mission. The IGS will expand and steward relationships within the Legacy Society and mid/major giving programs. This position collaborates closely with the Head of Individual Giving to drive event-based fundraising strategies and donor conversion efforts, ensuring consistent and strategic engagement across the donor lifecycle.
Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Drive BVMI’s mid-level gift fundraising and Legacy Society growth strategy.
Manage a portfolio of approximately up to 150 prospects and donors, cultivating and soliciting gifts in the 5- to 6-figure range.
Conduct 10-12 donor meetings per month, maintaining a balance of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship interactions.
Conduct outreach to at least 6–8 new donor prospects per month to build the pipeline and identify new funding opportunities.
Make 25-35 solicitations annually, including new asks and renewals.
Close $200,000+ in cumulative commitments from mid-level donors (at maturity of pipeline).
Secure 10–15 donor upgrades annually, moving mid-level donors into higher giving tiers.
Secure funding from 5–10 new donors annually.
Expand and steward relationships within the Legacy Society, implementing strategies to increase participation and giving levels.
Participate in developing BVMI’s annual fund strategy; assist with execution of the end-of-year fundraising campaign.
Collaborate with the Head of Individual Giving to design and execute event-based fundraising strategies and support donor conversion from cultivation gatherings.
Develop and deliver personalized donor proposals, reports, and stewardship materials in collaboration with the development team.
Track all donor interactions and progress in BVMI’s CRM (Bloomerang), ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
Represent BVMI at events and in the community to strengthen donor engagement and enhance visibility.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required.
3–5 years of experience in frontline fundraising, with demonstrated success in securing individual gifts of $10,000+.
Strong relationship-building and solicitation skills, with the ability to manage a diverse donor portfolio.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling donor communications.
Experience with planned giving and legacy donor cultivation preferred.
Proficiency in donor databases (Bloomerang preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet fundraising goals in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative team player with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset.
