JOB SUMMARY
The Income Auditor plays a crucial role in the Hotel Group’s Finance Department. The Income Auditor is responsible for auditing, verifying, and reporting all daily revenue transactions across the hotel group to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established financial controls and procedures. This role focuses on revenue integrity, system accuracy, and operational compliance, supporting reliable financial reporting and minimizing revenue loss. The position helps to prevent fraud and provides management with reliable financial data.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and verify night audit reports, food and beverage revenue and supporting documentation.
Audit and verify all daily revenue transactions across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Retail, Events, and Other Outlets.
Ensure all revenues are accurately posted, supported, and properly recorded in the PMS, POS, and accounting systems.
Verifies room rates, packages, discounts, allowances, complimentary rooms, voids, refunds, adjustments and investigates discrepancies.
Review and reconcile daily cashier reports, outlet summaries, and night audit reports.
Reconcile daily revenue totals to cash deposits, accounts receivable, bank movements, system reports and general ledger postings.
Review credit card, city ledger, and direct billing transactions for accuracy and authorization.
Monitor and reconcile voids, refunds, no-shows, adjustments and investigates discrepancies
Perform daily and monthly revenue reconciliations for all properties.
Ensure adherence to company policies, standard operating procedures, and internal controls.
Identify revenue leakage, control weaknesses, and operational risks.
Report irregularities, discrepancies, or potential fraud to management promptly.
Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
Prepare and distribute daily revenue reports to management and operational teams.
Compile weekly and monthly revenue analysis for review by Finance Management.
Assist with month-end closing activities related to revenue.
Ensure correct system configurations (rates, taxes, service charges, packages).
Liaise with Operations, Front Office, F&B, and IT to resolve system or posting issues and improve processes.
Recommend improvements to revenue controls and audit processes across properties.
Operational Considerations
Accuracy versus speed: Maintain accuracy and completeness while meeting established reporting deadlines.
Fraud Prevention: Monitor revenue transactions to identify irregularities, discrepancies, or potential fraud.
System Integration: Ensure alignment and accuracy between POS, PMS, and accounting systems, escalating discrepancies for resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Enrollment in, or successful completion of, Part I of the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is considered an asset.
Minimum 2–4 years’ experience in finance, income auditing, or night audit (multi-property hotel experience is an asset).
Strong knowledge of hotel operations and revenue streams.
Experience with hotel PMS and POS systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
