The Crystal Lake Park District is looking for an energetic, compassionate, and team-oriented Inclusion Specialist to help make our programs, camps, and events welcoming and accessible for all participants.

In this role, you’ll work closely with families, staff, and community partners to support Inclusion services and accommodations across Park District programs. Every day brings something different, from helping campers succeed at summer camp to collaborating with staff on creative support strategies that help participants shine.
Whether you're leading by example, solving problems on the fly, or celebrating participant successes, your work will make a meaningful impact in our community.
School Year:
Monday–Friday: 6:00 am – 8:45 am
Monday–Friday: 3:00 pm – 6:15 pm
Summer Camp:
Monday–Friday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
What You’ll Do
Coordinate inclusion services and accommodations for recreation programs, camps, and events.
Collaborate with families, staff, NISRA, and community partners to support participant success.
Help develop individualized accommodation and behavior support plans.
Provide direct participant support when needed.
Train and support Inclusion Aides and program staff.
Conduct observations and site visits to ensure quality programming.
Assist with behavior management strategies and communication plans.
Support participants during field trips, recreational activities, and special events.
Help create safe, positive, and engaging environments where everyone feels included.
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferred.
Recreation, education, therapeutic recreation, camp, or related experience a plus.
Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.
A proactive mindset—you see what needs to be done and jump in!
CPR/AED certification (or required to obtain within 6 months of hire).
Comfort with basic computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old.
Valid driver’s license and insurance.
Ability to work a flexible schedule (including occasional evenings/weekends).
Physical & Work Environment
This role keeps you moving! You’ll:
Be active—walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs).
Work both indoors and outdoors.
Engage in a lively, sometimes noisy, kid-centered environment.
