ABOUT THE ROLE
PwC's Deals practice partners with private equity funds, investment banks, corporates, and family offices across the transaction lifecycle – M&A strategy, due diligence, valuations, transaction services, and post-deal value creation. We are looking for a Business Development Manager to own and grow relationships with PE funds and investment banks, drive origination of mandates, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with cross-functional Deals teams to convert opportunities into high-impact engagements.
Responsibilities:
• Build, deepen, and maintain trusted relationships with Partners, Principals, MDs, and Deal teams at priority PE funds, VC funds, and investment banks across India.
• Independently represent PwC Deals with clients – host meetings, navigate conversations on live and upcoming deals, and position the right PwC capabilities with minimal hand-holding.
• Track the deals market closely – sectors in play, active sponsors, live mandates, fund-raising activity, exits – and translate insights into targeted outreach and pursuit plans.
• Partner with Deals leadership and cross-functional teams (Diligence, Valuations, TS, Strategy&, Tax, Legal) to shape pitches, proposals, and commercial constructs.
• Own the account plan for a portfolio of PE funds and IBs – pipeline, win rate, revenue, cross-sell – and drive disciplined execution against it in the CRM.
• Orchestrate client events, roundtables, sector pavilions, and CXO engagements to sustain top-of-mind presence with sponsors and bankers.
• Travel extensively across Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, and other financial hubs to stay close to clients and deal flow.
• Strong existing network across the PE and IB ecosystem in India; credibility to engage senior deal-makers independently.
• Sharp commercial instincts – able to read a deal, identify where PwC can add value, and frame a compelling commercial proposition.
• Excellent communication, executive presence, and storytelling skills; comfortable in 1:1 client settings as well as group forums.
• Highly organised operator – able to manage a large pipeline, multiple stakeholders, and a demanding travel calendar without dropping threads.

Preferred skill sets:
