Position Overview
• The Import/Export Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of U.S. import and export logistics, ensuring full compliance with U.S. regulations and the efficient execution of international shipments. This role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external service providers to resolve issues, mitigate risk, and drive continuous improvement across logistics processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage end-to-end import and export operations from booking through final delivery, ensuring adherence to deadlines and regulatory compliance
• Verify and process shipping documentation, customs entries, tariffs, and regulatory paperwork
• Coordinate with international agents, suppliers, and freight forwarders to track cargo movement and resolve discrepancies
• Provide daily guidance on import/export controls and supply chain security to internal customers, including HTS, Schedule B, ECCN classifications, documentation requirements, and regulatory inquiries to ensure timely clearance
• Track, analyze, and manage international transportation costs, ensuring accurate allocation, budget adherence, and identification of cost-saving opportunities
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with Materials, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams to ensure operational alignment
• Utilize Supply Planning inputs to develop shipping forecasts shared with transportation partners and freight forwarders to proactively manage demand fluctuations and risks
• Define, update, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support operational excellence and compliance
U.S. Import/Export Operations
• Ensure all export packaging meets product specifications, international transportation standards, and regulatory requirements, including hazardous materials and export-controlled items when applicable
• Generate packing slips and shipping documentation aligned with commercial invoices
• Perform pre- and post-packaging inspections, including photographic documentation to support claims, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Coordinate cargo pickups with freight forwarders and international carriers in accordance with Incoterms, routing instructions, and service-level agreements
• Generate import/export documentation in collaboration with Freight Forwarder and Compliance teams, including commercial invoices, packing lists, Schedule B/HTS classifications, country of origin, ECCN, license requirements, and AES filings
• Monitor export shipments from origin through final destination, proactively resolving customs clearance, carrier, and regulatory issues
Customer Service and Issue Resolution
• Respond to internal customer inquiries and ensure on-time order fulfillment
• Resolve transportation issues, inventory discrepancies, and general supply chain disruptions
Qualifications
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience
Experience
• 5+ years of experience in logistics with a focus on import/export operations
• 5+ years of experience with U.S. Customs regulations and import/export compliance
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Prior exposure to international freight forwarding or customs brokerage environments

Physical Requirements
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Ability to work in office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments as required
• Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required
• Lead multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines
• Occasional visits to warehouses or manufacturing areas may be required.
