Job Purpose
The Junior Payroll Consultant will support the SATIC payroll consultant with the preparation and processing of monthly payrolls on Sage 300 People. The role involves data capturing, validations, basic reconciliations, and assisting with employee queries while gaining experience in full-function payroll.
Key Responsibilities
• Capture payroll inputs such as new hires, terminations, banking details, personal information, unpaid leave, overtime, and allowances.
• Assist with validating payroll data and ensuring all inputs are accurate and approved.
• Support the SATIC payroll consultant during month‑end and year‑end processing.
• Receive, review, and validate payroll‑related documents signed via DocuSign.
• Save and file documents correctly according to internal filing standards.
• Ensure all relevant documents are processed on Sage 300 People timeously (e.g., benefit changes, salary amendments, personal detail updates).
• Capture benefit deductions such as medical aid, provident fund, retirement fund, and other third‑party items.
• Send required documentation and employee information to Alexander Forbes in line with onboarding, changes, and terminations.
• Verify that leave balances are accurate and assist employees with leave‑related queries.
• Support leave reconciliation checks and escalate discrepancies where required.
System & Data Administration (Sage 300 People)
• Maintain and update employee profiles on Sage 300 People.
• Assist with simple configuration tasks and basic system checks under supervision.
• Ensure data integrity and support routine system audits.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
• Ensure all payroll documentation is authorised, complete, and accurately filed.
• Assist with basic statutory processes such as UIF declarations and internal payroll reports.
• Maintain organised and compliant payroll records for audit purposes.
Employee & Stakeholder Support
• Respond to basic payroll, leave, and benefit-related queries professionally.
• Escalate complex queries to senior payroll staff with the necessary context.
Qualifications & Experience
• Grade 12 / Matric (essential).
• Basic understanding of payroll principles.
• Basic MS Excel skills (e.g., sorting, filtering, basic formulas).
