ICU Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) – Altamonte Springs, FL

Full-Time | Days or Nights (Rotating Weekends)

Annual Salary Range: $63,000 – $96,000 (based on experience and shift differentials)

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000 (Days) | $20,000 (Nights – Urgent Need)

Overview

Join a collaborative ICU Stepdown (Intermediate Care) team providing advanced care for patients requiring close monitoring, frequent assessments, and complex therapies. This 15-bed unit serves as a true stepdown from critical care, offering a 3:1 nurse-to-patient ratio (occasionally 4:1). You’ll care for patients on drips, long-term ventilators, and other advanced therapies—bridging the gap between ICU and Med-Surg while working alongside an expert interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Perform frequent patient assessments and monitor for acute status changes.

• Manage cardiac drips, ventilators, and other stepdown-level interventions.

• Utilize clinical judgment to assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans.

• Collaborate with physicians and care teams to achieve optimal outcomes.

• Educate patients and families regarding conditions, treatments, and discharge planning.

• Maintain safe, high-quality, and evidence-based nursing care in all activities.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active RN license (Florida or Compact)

• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU Stepdown or Progressive Care experience

• ADN or Nursing Diploma

Preferred:

• BSN degree

• RNs with 3+ years of Cardiac or Multisystem PCU experience will be considered

• NIH Stroke Scale within 30 days of hire

• BLS within 30 days; ACLS within 6 months

• Estimated Annual Range:

• Days: ~$63,000 – $85,000

• Nights (with differentials): ~$72,000 – $96,000
