Role Overview

Brandeis Hillel is seeking a full-time IACT Coordinator for Israel Engagement. This is a unique position for a candidate with 0-2 years of work experience and who is skilled in organizing, marketing, event planning, and program development. The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate previous successful implementation of creative ideas.

As IACT Israel Engagement Coordinator, you will work with students prior to their departure and upon their return from their Israel travel experiences by developing activities to engage students in Jewish life on campus, by encouraging them to become involved as leaders and participants in student-organized Jewish programming and groups, and by directing them to and facilitating their participation in existing Israel-related opportunities on and off campus. You will develop a recruitment strategy for Israel-related travel opportunities, as well as an Israel engagement strategy aimed at fostering and maintaining students' enthusiasm for on-campus Israel-related educational, cultural, and social programming.

With dozens of engaged student leaders, multiple student-led Israel-related special interest groups, and a collaborative team to support your work, the possibilities for enriching Jewish life at Brandeis are endless. We are looking for a team player with a passion for relationship building, commitment to Jewish life, and superb organizational and communication skills.

Your passion for Israel and skills for relationship building with students will help connect them to transformative experiences. Using your creative and critical thinking skills, you’ll help lead Brandeis' robust Israel travel program and play an essential role in ensuring that students’ Israel experiences continue when they return to campus.

Preference for immediate hire and open to conversations about January start date for Spring Semester.

What You’ll Do

• Actively strengthen Jewish life at Brandeis University by recruiting students for Birthright Israel and other immersive Israel travel experiences each semester

• Plan, coordinate, and staff Birthright Israel trips (or other immersive Israel travel experiences) each season

• Engage Birthright Israel participants in continued campus activities and Jewish life in the areas of Israel education/advocacy, community service, and Jewish life and learning; develop personalized follow-up and individual Jewish/Israel plans with Birthright alumni to deepen individuals’ connection to Jewish life

• Manage a team of Israel recruitment interns to reach a large and diverse Jewish student population

• Work closely with the Israel Engagement Coordinator on the Brandeis Hillel Student Board to develop educational, cultural, and social programming related to Israel

• Advise Israel-related student affiliate groups and support their programming initiatives

• Plan, recruit for, and teach Kol Yisrael learning fellowships

• Build relationships with 180+ students per year through meaningful conversations, connecting them with Jewish life on campus and relevant opportunities

• Utilize data and partner with students and Hillel professionals to ensure a strategic approach to building Jewish life and community on campus

• Participate in weekly supervision meetings with the Assistant Director, as well as weekly staff meetings, and frequent Engagement Team check-ins and strategy sessions

• Participate as a member of the Hillel staff team in weekly programs, Shabbat, and holiday activities.

• 0-2 years professional work experience

• Bachelor’s degree required from a 4-year residential university

• Proven success in:

• planning and leading events

• applying written and oral communication skills to communicate appropriately through email, formal letters, reports, and social media

• collaborating on projects with team members in a professional and productive manner

• multi-tasking and learning new skills

• implementing strategic plans in order to meet short-term and long-term goals

• A desire to meet students where they are and connect with them based on shared interests in Israel and Jewish life

What You’ll Receive

• Competitive salary in the nonprofit marketplace. The salary range for this role is $45,000-$48,000.
