The Tŝilhqot’in National Government is based in Williams Lake, British Columbia serving six communities, including ʔEsdilagh, Tl'etinqox, Tl'esqox, Tŝideldel, Xeni Gwet'in, and Yuneŝit'in. The Tŝilhqot’in National Government’s mission is to support and empower Tŝilhqot’in peoples to exercise their rights to self-determination within their traditional territories in ways which reflect Tŝilhqot’in philosophy, values, experience and culture.
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and operational support across the full spectrum of HR functions including recruitment and onboarding, employee records management, benefits administration, policy implementation, and day-to-day employee support.
Key Responsibilities
Learning and Development Support
Assist in coordinating employee training including scheduling, registrations and tracking completion
Assist with maintaining accurate training records and ensure compliance with required certifications
Liaise with external training providers and support logistics for training programs
Assist in organizing orientations and internal training initiatives
HR Administrative Support
Assist with drafting routine HR letters such as employment confirmations and onboarding documents
Track probationary periods, and other key HR milestones
Assist in maintaining and updating HR templates, forms and internal documentation
Assist with recruitment and onboarding new employees
Ensures appropriate supplies for meetings are obtained
Meeting agendas, material preparation and distribution, assisting with meeting logistics and technology
Preparation of travel expense claims, Purchase Orders with appropriate department coding, expense reports, and work visa statements with receipts
Maintain and organize employee records (digital and physical files)
Provide administrative support for reporting, internal documentation, and cross functional compliance initiatives as required
Assist with maintaining confidential employee and compliance related records, ensuring documentation is accurate, current, and properly filed
Employee Support and Engagement
Provide front line support by responding to general HR inquiries from employees
Assist with coordination of employee engagement initiatives and internal events
Assistance at Nation events
Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Previous administrative experience is preferred, but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good organizational and time-management abilities
Proactive and self-motivated, able to take initiative and manage tasks independently
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to handle confidential information professionally
Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions
Travel will be required
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
Overtime as required
Lifting or moving up to 25lbs may be required
