Program Overview:

The Human Resources Apprentice position is a registered apprenticeship opportunity under the Guam Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program. Sponsored by Pacific Rim Constructors, Inc., this structured training program combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction, preparing participants for a professional career in Human Resources.

Position Summary:

The Human Resources Apprentice will assist the HR department in day-to-day operations, gaining hands-on experience in various HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, and HRIS systems. The apprentice will work under the supervision of experienced HR professionals, developing the foundational skills needed for a long-term career in human resources.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with recruitment efforts including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and coordinating candidate communications.

Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including preparation of new hire packets and exit interviews.

Maintain employee records in compliance with company policies and labor regulations.

Provide administrative support to the HR team (filing, data entry, document processing).

Assist in organizing employee training sessions and HR events.

Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Learn and assist with payroll, timekeeping, and benefits administration.

Uphold confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive employee information.

Attend related instruction classes as required by the Guam DOL apprenticeship guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Eligible to work in Guam.

Interest in a long-term career in Human Resources.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Willingness to learn and follow company policies and labor laws.

Must meet Guam DOL apprenticeship entry requirements.

Program Structure:

Duration: 1 to 2 years (depending on level and schedule)

On-the-Job Training Hours: As per Guam DOL standards

Related Instruction: Provided by an approved training provider or institution

Compensation: Paid apprenticeship (wage progression based on performance and completion milestones)

Career Pathway:

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, participants may be considered for full-time HR roles such as HR Assistant or HR Coordinator depending on organizational needs and performance.
