Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP)
is the largest veterinary-owned distributor in Canada. Located in St. Marys, Ontario, our primary purpose is to ensure that veterinarians have the supplies they need, when they need it, to provide healthcare to all types of animals. We are looking for new members to join our Human Resources team in the Human Resources Administrator role. Be a part of the supply chain industry and join VP!
Human Resources Administrator (8-month contract)
The Human Resources Assistant will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the HR Department including, but not limited to, recruitment, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and health and safety. The Human Resources Assistant will have excellent communication skills and be highly motivated, organized, and able to work under pressure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide general HR administrative support to the HR Coordinator and Generalist, including documentation, data entry, and maintaining accurate employee records.
Support recruitment activities, including screening, interviewing, reference/background checks, and full-cycle hiring for warehouse roles.
Monitor attendance, vacation, and leave of absence tracking to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Maintain and update HR systems and databases, ensuring data integrity and timely processing.
Assist with HR system implementation and sustainment, including data migration, employee training, and post–go-live support.
Support employee training initiatives and track completion of HR-related programs.
Contribute to policy development, review, and updates, including the Employee Handbook and internal procedures.
Coordinate and support company events, initiatives, and internal communications (e.g., announcements and communication boards).
Record and distribute departmental meeting minutes.
Assist with additional projects and duties assigned by the HR & Safety Compliance Manager.
Health & Safety:
Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and follows VP’s policies and procedures
Conducts self with regard for the safety of all employees
Participates in health and safety training, meetings, and drills as required; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures
Reports any health & safety violations or hazards to appropriate contacts (JHSC Representatives, Supervisors, Managers)
Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP):
Follows and understands all relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices

Skills and Knowledge Required
Diploma or degree in Human Resources or similar.
3 years’ experience in a similar role.
Experience with HRIS, Payroll and Time & Attendance systems.
Knowledge of Provincial Employment Standards, Health & Safety, and Human Rights legislation.
Familiarity with Human Resources principles and practices.
Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
CHRP designation or working towards considered an asset.
Experience with UKG Ready, Mitrefinch and/or Bamboo considered an asset.
Schedule and Hours of Work
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This position will be located at VP’s Head Office in St Marys (485 Queen St W, St. Marys, ON N4X 1B7).
Compensation
$25-$30 / hour
NOTE: Salary will be determined based on the successful applicant's experience and qualifications.
