Position Overview
Under minimal supervision responsible for providing Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) support in one or more functional areas of Industrial Hygiene (IH), Industrial Safety (IS), Radiological or Environmental for the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
Functional:
Provides IH/IS support to perform work place monitoring and job coverage support for all DUF6 operations and maintenance activities
Conducts safety walk-downs, inspections, and pre-job walk-downs for hazard identification and coordinates the development of activity hazard analyses
Performs field monitoring and job coverage in support of the worker safety and health program utilizing approved work packages and procedures
Collects water and air samples utilizing various sample media, administers sample chain-of-custody, and may conduct sample analysis
Maintains and operates IS/IH monitoring equipment
Stops/Suspends work of unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk
Reviews and may develop ES&H procedures
Interacts with Work Control, Engineering, and Maintenance departments to plan for and provide technical input into work package development in accordance with Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) principles
Champions ISMS with the work force
Minimum Requirements (Must meet DOE O 426.2 minimum requirements):
High school diploma or equivalent
3 years related industrial hygiene and/or industrial safety experience, which should include:
1 year experience in DOE radiological activities (preferred)
Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) credential
