Job Description
Job Summary:
Primarily responsible for promoting a positive Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality culture in the workplace and ensure compliance with host-nation, state and Group HSEQ standards, laws, legislation and regulation.
Principal Accountabilities:
Support the HSEQ Manager and team in the implementation of Group and OpCo policies and procedures to ensure that the HSEQ objectives are met.
Assist the HSEQ Manager with risk assessments through the evaluation of processes and activities for the presence of hazards in order to prevent incidence during operations
Assess, record and control the subsequent risk to as low as reasonably practicable.
Ensure proper documentation of Risk assessment records in easily retrieval format.
Assist the HSEQ manager in the investigation and reporting of all accidents and dangerous occurrences including environmental incidents in the area of responsibility to promote learning and prevent future occurrence.
Ensure that all staff, third party contractors and visitors are inducted into the requirements of the Group QMS and their own roles and responsibilities within it to ensure compliance.
Assist the HSEQ Manager in working with Heads of Departments to ensure that the workforce are adequately trained, competent and authorized for the operations they are required to perform and kept informed of all relevant information to ensure their health and safety.
Assist the HSEQ manager with safety inspections to ensure that a safe workplace is maintained for all employees and kept free from potential hazards as far as is reasonably practicable.
Support the HSEQ Manager to develop emergency procedures and drive conformity to the emergency procedures by ensure that the workforce is aware of and understands the emergency procedures and document all drills.
Maintain relevant HSEQ document in easy and retrievable format within the scope of the Group QMS.
Assist the HSEQ manager to ensure that quality objectives of the company are set and recorded in the group QMS – reviewed at intervals, and are complied with by all staff
Maintain internal audit program to ensure that the Group QMS conforms to planned arrangements and is effectively implemented and maintained.
Support the HSEQ Manager with pre- and post audit actions in respect of HSEQ audit to ensure that relevant information/documents are supplied and drive the implementation of recommendations for procedural changes.
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree/Higher National Diploma In Environmental Engineering
Minimum of 5 years Health & Safety working experience in a multinational company with at least 3 years in HSE coordination/supervision
Professional membership of relevant bodies is an added advantage
Knowledgeable in ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OSHA 18001, ISM, ISPS standards and HSE
management systems is an added advantage.
Knowledge of local laws and legislation relating to HSEQ is an added advantage
HSE Responsibilities
Stop work by challenging and stopping unsafe acts and behaviors or unsafe conditions.
Comply with Standard Operating Procedures defined in Responsibilities above, and company STOP WORK system.
