About Jonluca Neal
Jonluca Neal is a privately-owned natural foods distribution company founded in 2023 after the merger of Jonluca Enterprises and Neal Brothers Distribution. The company employs 130 people and operates out of a 77,000 sq ft state-of-the-art tri-temp facility in Vaughan, ON, and a tri-temp 20,000 sq ft warehouse in Burnaby, BC.
We are excited for this phase in our new business and are looking for a dynamic HR Generalist to join our growing team to help us build upon and manage our HR foundation.
Position Overview
Working in person Monday-Friday 9-5:30 pm at our Vaughan location and reporting to the Chief Development Officer (“CDO”), the HR Generalist will be responsible for successfully implementing a broad range of HR projects and programs and managing the day-to-day HR activities.
The successful candidate will be organized, collaborative, and results-oriented. They will be particularly adept at building strong and trusting relationships with our incredible team, while balancing multiple projects within our fast-growing organization.
What you will do:
Employee Relations & Workplace Support
Develop strong working relationships at all levels of our company, always demonstrating credibility and strong knowledge of HR principles.
Play an active role in communicating specific HR related initiatives across the organization.
Stay connected and informed on workplace trends and HR best practices and respond accordingly with recommendations to the CDO, collaborating with external partners as needed.
Participate in Executive Leadership Team meetings and other management meetings as necessary.
Work closely with the finance team to resolve payroll questions or issues.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
Develop and apply talent sourcing and onboarding strategies that fit our growing organization and ensure a consistent and exceptional approach.
Working with senior leadership and hiring managers, manage the full talent acquisition cycle for our open positions.
Manage all hiring and onboarding documents and records in an organized and legally compliant manner.
At the end of the employment journey, conduct exit interviews and analyze exit interview trends to summarize and present to senior leadership.
Performance Management
Support the implementation and administration of performance review processes.
Coach managers on performance improvement plans and development strategies.
Assist in identifying training and development needs across departments.
HR Reporting
Maintain accurate files and records in our HRIS (Bamboo HR).
Using our HRIS to its fullest capacity, maintain and update various HR reports, including, among other metrics, turnover, recruitment, and headcount, etc., and work with senior leadership to develop appropriate action plans to address identified needs.
Assess needs and make recommendations on HR programs, such as an employee recognition program, employee engagement survey, etc.
Review group benefits usage and trends. Report trends and recommendations to senior leadership.
HR Compliance & Policies
Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, including the Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA) and workplace regulations.
Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures as required.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
Employee Relations and Compliance
Assist people managers with coaching, performance discussions, conflict resolution, etc.
Respond to employee inquiries promptly and provide proactive solutions to day-to-day challenges.
Work closely with senior leadership through the termination process.
Communicate and enforce all HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with all applicable legislation and regulations.
Conduct workplace investigations as needed.
Benefits administration, enrolment, and support as required.
Health and Safety
Manage any interactions and reporting with WSIB and our group benefits carrier.
Participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure ongoing compliance in this area.
Manage the return-to-work program, workplace accommodations, etc.
Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to.
Other
Other duties and responsibilities as required to meet the needs of our business.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
6–10 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or operations environments.
At least 3 years of experience working under, interpreting, and understanding employment principles and legislation in Ontario is required.
Proven ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of an organization.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with strong attention to detail.
Superior English-language communications skills, both written and oral.
A strong and engaging collaborator with a focus on building and maintaining a positive organizational culture.
Critical decision-making, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills are required.
Proficiency in technology (e.g., Microsoft Office, cloud storage, video conference software, HRIS, benefits software).
Ability to work full-time in-person at our location in Vaughan.
Must be legally entitled to work for us in Canada.
