HOUSING MAINTENANCE WORKER
Term: Full-time
Hours: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $42,150 - $50,330 (Depending on education and experience)

Whitefish River First Nation is seeking a dedicated Housing Maintenance Worker to support the upkeep, safety, and long-term sustainability of the Nation’s band rental units. This role provides essential services to ensure homes are properly maintained, repairs are completed efficiently, and community members receive respectful, reliable support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine repairs, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, drywall, and flooring.
Conduct regular inspections of housing units to identify safety issues, maintenance needs, or required upgrades.
Respond to work orders in a timely and professional manner.
Housing Operations & Support
Assist with seasonal maintenance tasks (e.g., winterizing units, clearing snow from walkways, lawn care, and minor roofing repairs).
Install and maintain fixtures, including windows, doors, locks, smoke detectors, and ventilation systems.
Provide respectful, culturally sensitive service when working in community members’ homes.
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of completed work, materials used, and future repair needs.
Report major repair requirements or safety concerns to the Housing Manager.
Assist in inventory management of tools, supplies, and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS:
At least 3 – 5 years of work experience in residential maintenance, construction, or trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills and a professional, community‑focused approach.
Valid Class G (or provincial equivalent) driver’s licence is an asset, with access to a vehicle and the ability to travel when required.
Knowledge of First Nation housing challenges, building standards, and community needs is an asset.
Ability to lift to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
Working Conditions:
Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional after‑hours calls as needed.
Outdoor and indoor work environments.
Additional Assets:
WHMIS, Working at Heights, First Aid/CPR, or related safety certifications.
Experience working in a First Nation community.
Training in carpentry, construction, trades, or property management.
Upon hire, the successful candidate must submit a Police Criminal Reference Check.
