Full-Time | Male Participants | On-the-Floor Leadership Role
Location: Wollongong (site-based)
Sydney Health & Care Services (SHCS) is seeking an experienced House Team Leader to lead and support a SIL home working with male and female participants with complex physical disabilities, psychosocial disabilities, and mental health diagnoses.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who leads by example, is confident working directly on the floor, and can support staff while ensuring participants receive safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
About the Role
As a House Team Leader, you will work directly within the home, balancing participant-facing care with day-to-day operational oversight. This includes supporting participants who may present with physical and verbal aggression, complex behaviours, and high support needs.
You will be a key link between frontline staff, management, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct support and supervision on the floor within a complex SIL environment
Support participants with daily living, behavioural support strategies, and risk management
Assist with rostering coordination, shift coverage, and ensuring safe staffing levels
Review and approve timesheets, ensuring accuracy and SCHADS compliance
Provide on-site coaching, mentoring, and guidance to support workers
Lead by example in managing challenging behaviours calmly and professionally
Liaise with stakeholders, carers, allied health professionals, and internal managers
Support implementation of Behaviour Support Plans, incident responses, and reporting
Promote consistency, professionalism, and accountability within the house team
About You
You are a confident and emotionally intelligent leader who is comfortable stepping in, supporting staff through challenging situations, and maintaining professional boundaries.
You will bring:
Previous leadership or management experience (Team Leader, Senior Support Worker, Supervisor or similar)
Experience supporting people with complex mental health, physical disabilities, and behaviours of concern
Strong communication skills and the ability to coach staff in real time
Confidence managing aggression, escalation, and crisis situations
A practical, calm, and solution-focused approach
Strong documentation and organisational skills
Essential Requirements
Certificate III or IV in Disability, Mental Health, Individual Support, or equivalent
Demonstrated experience in a lead or supervisory role
NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
Working With Children Check (where required)
First Aid & CPR
Ability to work full-time, including rotating shifts as required
Strong understanding of professional boundaries, safety, and duty of care
