Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The Hotline staff plays a critical role in ensuring eligible clients receive timely, high-quality legal assistance. This position is responsible for being available during telephone hotline hours to accept warm handoffs from intake staff and to immediately provide appropriate brief legal advice to clients.
In this role, the hotline staff assesses client needs and applies current case priorities to triage matters for acceptance and determine the appropriate level of service. Hotline staff provide brief legal advice across multiple common areas of poverty law while adhering to written hotline practice standards related to client communication, professionalism, quality of advice, and timely case closure. Hotline staff manage their own cases and do not have assigned paralegal support.
