Join AECOM’s Architecture & Design Team in Madrid

AECOM Buildings + Places is seeking a talented and visionary Hospitality Project Leader to join our dynamic Architecture & Design team in Madrid. This is your opportunity to shape the future of hospitality through projects that combine creativity, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology.

As part of our team, you will lead iconic and complex hospitality projects across Spain and internationally, collaborating with multidisciplinary experts in architecture, engineering, urban design, and sustainability. From concept to completion, you will be involved in the entire project lifecycle, contributing to solutions that leave a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and manage the design and delivery of hospitality projects, ensuring quality, timeliness, and budget compliance.
• Oversee the entire design and assurance process, from concept through construction, testing, and commissioning, while exploring innovative delivery methods.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
• Provide strategic leadership to project teams, motivating and mentoring staff to achieve excellence in design and execution.
• Collaborate with internal teams, subconsultants, and vendors to deliver integrated and cohesive project solutions.
• Maintain financial oversight, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and aligned with scope and schedule requirements.
• Promote sustainable design practices and ensure compliance with QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment) and sustainability procedures.
• Manage contract negotiations, scope changes, and claims, ensuring alignment with project goals.
• Represent AECOM in client presentations, industry events, and business development activities.

Years of Experience:

• 15–20 years of professional experience in the hospitality sector.
•  At least 10 years in a leadership position with a reputable hospitality consultancy or employer, specifically in Spain.

Education:

• University MSc-level degree in Architecture.

Skills:

• Proven experience in the design, development, and full execution of hospitality projects, ensuring alignment with brand standards, operator requirements, and investor return objectives.
• Strong understanding of the owner–operator model, management and franchise agreements, and Technical Services review and approval processes with international hotel chains.
• In-depth knowledge of hotel star classification systems and their impact on architectural programming, room sizing, public areas, service level, and asset positioning.
• Experience in technical and functional hotel planning, including room mix definition, hospitality-driven MEP coordination, efficient back-of-house layouts, and optimization of guest, staff, and service flows.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary coordination (architecture, interior design, structures, MEP, FF&E and OS&E), ensuring technical integration and clash detection within BIM environments (Revit).
• Solid experience in consultant and contractor procurement, contract negotiation, risk control, and change management across all project phases.
• Strong CAPEX control, value engineering, and budget monitoring skills, with focus on operational efficiency and asset life-cycle performance.
• Integration of sustainability and energy-efficiency strategies during design and construction phases, including material selection, passive and active systems optimization, and alignment with ESG standards and environmental certifications.
• Proven capability to manage large and complex hospitality projects with international teams and contractors, ensuring quality, schedule compliance, and regulatory adherence.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience in Spanish and international projects.
• Willingness to travel as required by project needs.

Languages:

• Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
• Knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
