Pacific Hospice and Palliative Care has an immediate opening for a compassionate and dynamic Director of Nursing (DON) who will lead our hospice clinical team by providing knowledge, motivation and encouragement. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced nursing professional who is committed to excellence in patient care, team development, and regulatory compliance in a professional and growing hospice environment. Position Summary
The Hospice Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall clinical operations of the hospice program. This role provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to the nursing staff and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, compliance, and compassionate care. The Director of Nursing will work closely with the Medical Director, Administrator, and other leaders to promote a respectful culture of excellence, teamwork, accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to the hospice nursing and clinical teams
Ensure delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families.
Oversee clinical policies, procedures, and compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards.
Supervise and mentor nursing staff; provide ongoing education, training, and performance evaluations.
Coordinate patient care in collaboration with physicians, social workers, chaplains, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Develop and monitor quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and ensure timely reporting.
Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the growth and success of the hospice program.
Qualifications
Mandatory Minimum 3–5 years of Hospice DON Experience
Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
Bilingual Spanish/English a plus
In-depth knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid hospice regulations and compliance standards.
Knowledge of EHR systems (Axxess a plus)
Comprehensive knowledge of QA and billing process
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Compassionate, patient-centered approach with the ability to support patients, families, and staff.
